Coco Gauff has been showing off her incredible fashion game since she debuted at Wimbledon in 2019. Gauff’s stylish box braids stole the limelight giving the tennis fraternity major fashion goals. In 2023, she changed her hairstyle and shifted to intricate cornrows, which also became her fashion game-changer.

Honestly, I wanted to try this and I got tired of braids all the time. I like to change up my hair, I’ve tried color in the past with the braids and everything, but I just needed something different,” she said, expressing her inclination towards new styles.

Hairstyling has been an integral part of the 20-year-old American tennis player’s fashion choices. When she signed a partnership with America’s leading haircare brand, Carol’s Daughter, Gauff revealed her journey to empowerment through this collaboration. Speaking about how she used the products before this partnership, she mentioned how the brand “felt like perfect alignment” while learning to embrace her original hair.It was founded by a Black woman with an emphasis on family, and given how close I am to mine, this partnership just felt authentic to me,” she said.

While Coco Gauff’s interesting hairstyles have set fashion standards for many youngsters, she also revealed how her hairstyles try to present her culture, where black hairstyles are one of the synonymous parts of her identity.

Coco Gauff said she is committed “to showcasing Black hairstyles” on the court

This reigning US Open champion’s iconic hairstyles are an ode to her ethnic identity. Previously, she said, “When I was young, I committed myself to showcasing Black hairstyles when I play, and that’s something that I take pride in. Whether it’s box braids, twists, or my natural hair, it’s a form of self-expression that I’m really proud of, especially because you still don’t see it very often in our sport.”

This US Open champion also spoke about why she prefers dreads despite liking her original hair texture. “I like my hair, but braids are just easier. Especially when I sweat—when my hair isn’t in braids, the salt from my sweat dries out,” Gauff said. Following Gauff’s routine, it seemed that she not only dons hairstyles but takes good care of her hair to keep it healthy.

Coco Gauff’s latest honey-blonde hairstyle has already charmed her followers making a sensation in the media. Now that she has revealed the secret behind the looks, the world awaits to see how she makes an equally ravishing performance at Wimbledon similar to her latest look.
