But recently, during the match of Victoria Azarenka at the Miami Open quarterfinal clash, there was an irregular interruption, because of which the match was suspended for 45 minutes. Just like the way bees interrupted Carlos Alcaraz‘s match, the 34-year-old tennis player’s match went on hold because of a power cut.

Recently, the two-time Grand Slam champion opened up about her outburst over the power outage that interrupted her game. While she put forward a frustrated front, she recently expressed her feelings behind those emotions amid the power-cut chaos.

As the former world number one has made her way into the semi-finals, competing in the quarter-final round against Yulia Putintseva was not that easy, as a power outage created a problem for both of them. Victoria Azarenka was not happy with the situation and vented her frustration over the power cut during the match itself.

However, she completed the match and, during the press conference, she opened up about how her reaction was not the best, but at the same time, she highlighted her thoughts. She stated, “I thought it was — obviously in that moment where you’re playing a match, you’re like, okay, you need to stop, how long you need to stop for? I have no idea. It’s not an easy definitely thing to handle.”

Further, she explained that at the moment, the anxiety of not knowing the situation regarding when the match would start again was something that got her. She added, “Yeah, it was a first one that happened to me, so it seems to — hopefully it doesn’t happen again through the tournament. As I said, it’s quite challenging to kind of, do you wait, do you warm up, do you sit on the court?”

Victoria Azarenka also dwelled on how not knowing what to do in the time duration was probably the toughest part. Azarenka went on to win the match, and even though she faced difficulties, she did not forget to acknowledge her opponent’s efforts.

Azarenka faced a tough competition against Putintseva

During the same press conference, the Belarusian tennis player opened up about how she had to put her best version forward to defeat her opponent, who was in good form. She stated, “Yulia played great, she’s in such great form and I really had to dig deep. I felt like my legs were kind of giving in a little bit and I lost a little bit of self-belief because she was playing so well and moving me around everywhere.”

On the other hand, she also highlighted how, at the end of the day, she was happy that she regrouped herself, and made choices, to come out and play aggressively, with the perfect opportunity. However, it will be interesting to see whether she wins her fourth Miami Open title this year or not.
