It took Frech almost 1 hour and 56 minutes to seal the deal in Guadalajara. Although she won the match by two sets, Gadecki’s incredible fight in this match ensured the fans didn’t get deprived of any excitement from this thrilling encounter. Previously, Frech’s best result in this tournament was reaching the second round. With this win, she has now jumped up to the 32nd spot in the women’s singles ranking.

Frech has played against Swiatek only once in her career so far and interestingly it was in Warsaw itself. Swiatek defeated her by 6-1,6-2 in that match but even that time she praised Frech for her valiant efforts. “I’m happy that I was solid today because Magda is not an easy opponent,” said Swiatek after that match.
