Coco Gauff continued her impressive form this season with a dominant 6-2, 6-3 win against Mihaela Buzarnescu. The American even clocked a 124 mph serve, the fastest so far this week. Gauff is coming off the back of a maiden Grand Slam final appearance at Roland Garros.
Gauff became a global sensation after beating 5-time Wimbledon champion Venus Williams in 2019. She was only 15 at the time.

Gauff laughs off nasty fall during Round 2 encounter
The American looked comfortable on serve while dominating throughout the match. During the match, the 18-year-old had a minor blip when she had a nasty slip falling to the ground. However, after her win she saw the light side to things. She uploaded a picture, captioned, “POV You do a ridiculous fall and have no choice but to laugh about it.”

Gauff also thanked the crowd for their support on Centre Court. The American detailed, “I would say growing up I didn’t expect myself to be as comfortable as I am on the grass and the clay.”
“Playing on an unpredictable surface, (what) I really credit a lot is my speed and my ability to be able to react and adjust. I think that’s what you need on these surfaces,” she added.
The American has reached the fourth round in 2019 and 2021 and will now meet Amanda Anisimova in the next round. Anisimova, meanwhile, outperformed Lauren Davis in a three-set encounter, 2-6, 6-3, 6-4.
Will Coco Gauff reach another Grand Slam final?
Gauff, who is seeded 11th at Wimbledon, has been quite impressive on grass. She reached the semi-finals in WTA Berlin Open, losing to Ons Jabeur. Additionally, she is placed third in the race to WTA Finals at the end of the year after a splendid season.

At 18, Gauff is showing great maturity as she continues to climb up the ladder in the rankings. She will undoubtedly be one of the favorites to make a deep run at Wimbledon this year. The young star definitely has immense potential and is only just getting started.
