Coco Gauff’s interest in the world of fashion and beauty took root during her formative years. As she shared in a 2019 interview with The Gloss, her fascination with makeup began early, recalling, “I’ve been watching makeup tutorials for as long as I can remember.” This early curiosity blossomed when, at the age of twelve, her mother allowed her to purchase her first mascara, a gateway to a growing enthusiasm for cosmetics. While her mother ensured she learned proper application techniques, Gauff credits YouTube tutorials for further guidance. However, beyond makeup, her hair appears to hold a particularly significant value for her.
“I’ve been open to trying new styles to play with. I want to be that representation, especially in my sport of tennis, where there are not a lot of Black girls playing…I love to show braids, I love to wear my curls…[when] you look good and you feel good, and you feel good about yourself, it almost makes you perform better,” Coco Gauff, now 21, once said. This vision found a perfect partner in April 2024 when she joined forces with Carol’s Daughter, a pioneering hair care brand equally dedicated to “uplifting Black beauty for a powerful new generation.”
Moreover, this partnership has since been a way for the American to embrace her “curls and coils with pride and authenticity.” While talking about this partnership, the founder Lisa Price said, “In Coco, we celebrate the strength, beauty, and authenticity of all the generations to come.” They are ensuring it with every campaign!

In April last year, when Carol’s Daughter announced, “Did you guess correctly? 🤭 Meet the newest addition to the Carol’s Daughter family, tennis icon, @cocogauff! In a move to uplift Black beauty for a powerful new generation, we are proud to become Coco’s official hair partner. We are not just strong, we are Goddess Strong!” Gauff’s mother, Candi Gauff, was spotted sharing the behind-the-scenes video of the advertorial shoot on her IG story. At the time, Coco was seen arriving on set to thunderous applause from the marketing team.
Even in January 2025, Candi gave her reaction after seeing her daughter featured in Carol’s Daughter’s “favorite memories” of 2024.
Just a few days ago, Coco Gauff was spotted in yet another commercial, where she was seen flaunting her different hairstyles and saying, “What’s my favorite thing about my hair? The versatility. I can beat it, twist it, straighten it, I can serve any look.” What’s the secret behind her strong hair?

Coco Gauff shares her thoughts on being an inspirational figure to the next generation
In 2023, during an interview with Tennis Channel, Coco Gauff was informed that she has now been considered a fashion icon on social media. After hearing this, Gauff looked a bit amused and gave a gentle smile while saying, “I am glad that people kinda take notice of it. So, I guess I am on tennis fashion Twitter. I don’t know.” A few hours later, she even reshared that video clip on her IG handle with the caption, “LOL.”
But how does she feel about being an inspiration to young girls? Well, Coco Gauff once admitted, “Tennis and trophies mean a lot to me, but the impact that you leave on people means more. I have girls now coming up to me, of all races, but mostly African Americans, saying they are picking up a racquet for the first time because of me. It amazes me since that is how I got into the sport.”
She reiterated her thoughts in a recent fun interaction on Los Gonzalez de Tour. Gauff was asked to share her thoughts on being an inspirational figure to little girls. To this, her reply was, “I feel very blessed to have a lot of little girls look up to me. And, I know it’s a huge responsibility, but I try to do my best with it.”
