Angel Reese not only saw her Team Coop side fall 129-122 in the 2026 WNBA All-Star Game, but she also finished the contest scoreless, the only player on her team not to register a point. And, given the player Reese is and the level of attention she commands, it was almost inevitable that such a stat would not go unnoticed. In fact, it has already been drawing plenty of reactions from fans on social media.

As highlighted by DraftKings in an X post, Reese attempted just one field goal during her nine minutes on the court and came away without a point. That limited playing time, combined with her bench role, helps explain the stat line, but fans still seized on it.

The post, however, also highlighted some impressive numbers from Reese’s outing. She finished the game with five rebounds and four assists while posting a team-best +11 plus/minus. That means Team Coop actually outscored Team Spoon by 11 points while Reese was on the floor, despite ultimately falling 129-122.

Amid all of those positive numbers, however, it was the one negative statistic, Reese finishing without a point, that many fans focused on.

To an extent, however, Angel Reese not scoring seems understandable. Apart from the fact that it’s not really a competitive game, Angel Reese was also not an All-Star starter this season and instead came off the bench. She ended up playing just nine minutes, the fewest on Team Coop and the second-fewest by any player in the game. Scoreless outings in All-Star exhibitions are not unprecedented, as minutes are spread thin and rotations are experimental.

In Reese’s case, the limited playing time played a part in her finishing the contest without scoring.

While some fans used Angel Reese’s scoreless outing as an opportunity to reinforce the idea that she had a poor performance, others were quick to come to her defense. One of the first arguments they made was by bringing up Aliyah Boston, who also finished the game without scoring.

“Yea Aaliyah Boston didn’t score either & she was a starter 🤷🏽‍♂️ You K**** boys are obsessed with this girl…. Sickening and Pathetic,” one fan wrote.

Another user made a similar point, even citing other players, said, “Aaliyah Boston also didn’t score. Angel Reese had a history-making assist to Malonga, along with 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Caitlin Clark had 10 brick threes… but carry on with your narrative.”

And, of course, Aliyah Boston, who actually started for Team Spoon, also finished without scoring while recording just one rebound. She, however, played only five minutes in the game, so, like Reese, it is safe to say her stat line is understandable given the limited playing time.

Some fans, however, directed their frustration not at Angel Reese‘s statistics but at DraftKings for making the post in the first place.

“Shout out to draft kings with the most dumbest post of the year, yall showing your true colors,” one fan wrote.

Another user added, “Slow news day = attack Angel Reese or LeBron then yall wonder why athletes no longer fw media and control shit instead of owners,” suggesting the post was simply an attempt to generate attention because there was nothing more newsworthy to discuss.

Not all fans, however, came to Reese’s defense. Some simply laughed at the statistic. “I mean, she only shot the ball once and played nine minutes. What do you expect?🤣,” one fan wrote, pointing to Reese’s lone field-goal attempt.

But regardless of the statistics, the criticism, or the defense, it is well established that the WNBA All-Star Game is an exhibition event. Players historically do not approach it with the same intensity as regular-season or playoff contests, making unusual stat lines far less significant.
