Sophie Cunningham has never shied away from making a moment her own, and during the Indiana Fever’s latest game, she did just that. Against the Connecticut Sun, cameras caught the veteran guard bringing back one of her most well-known gestures in front of two key audience members.

During the game, one sequence saw Cunningham going from one end of the baseline to the other on offense with Van Lith at her hip. Van Lith was being excessively physical and was called for a foul, and as she went to argue with the referees, Cunningham very clearly pointed at her for a few moments.
The moment was clipped and posted to X by @BrickCenter_ and quickly amassed over 24,000 views. All of this took place in front of Olympic legend Simone Biles and her partner, NFL player Jonathan Owens. The pair were even showcased on the jumbotron during the game.
Biles has been in the arena supporting the Fever before, but the night was her first visit this season. 2026 marks the first time that Owens is set to play with the Indianapolis Colts, which means he and Biles are going to be located in the same city as Cunningham for the first time.
This also means that the couple has begun to engage with the city’s culture. On August 24th, they were present at the Pacers Foundation Charity Softball Classic, joining other players from the Colts, Fever, and the NBA’s Indiana Pacers.
Interestingly, Biles’ first-ever in-person WNBA game was a Fever home game back in 2024, and she made an X post commemorating it after meeting with players in the locker room and being posted to the team’s page.

As for Sophie Cunningham, she has been one of the league’s most spoken-about personalities this season, and one of the reasons for that is her viral point earlier in the season.
During a game between the Fever and the Phoenix Mercury back in June, Caitlin Clark and DeWanna Bonner got into a heated altercation, leading to five players receiving technical fouls.
After Clark and Bonner exchanged words, Cunningham became Bonner’s target for words, but instead of replying, the Fever guard just pointed at her for 22 straight seconds until she was pulled away by a Fever staffer. The moment quickly went viral online, with videos and pictures of her pointing becoming memes nearly overnight.
“But they are definitely targeting [Clark], and the league and the refs do nothing to protect her,” Sophie Cunningham said during an episode of her Show Me Something podcast. “Unfortunately, this type of s*** happens every single game to [Clark], and the league and the refs do absolutely nothing about it. You see the videos of literally kneeing and cheap-shotting [Clark] in the throat.”
In the Fever’s most recent game, unfortunately for Van Lith, the point wasn’t the only highlight Cunningham got at her expense. Earlier in the game, Van Lith had gotten out on the fast break following a steal, but Cunningham quickly hustled back and blocked her from behind. Afterward, she was seen laughing about how the play turned out. Van Lith came off the bench to add 12 points for the Sun and made an assist and two rebounds. But this wasn’t enough to hold off the Fever.
Fever managed to cruise to a win, beating the Sun 111-91. Clark led the team with an outstanding 34 points and 12 assists, eviscerating the Sun’s defense. Unfortunately for Sophie Cunningham, her play didn’t translate to the stat sheet. She finished the game with one point, two rebounds, a steal, and a block. She also missed all three of her three-point shots.
With Biles and Owens present on the sideline, Sophie Cunningham brought back a fan-favorite celebration, and as cameras caught the signature point, fans weren’t going to let it go unnoticed.
