It’s the culmination of the best of the best in the entire league… All the talent, all the stars, all the glory. Yes, it’s top-tier entertainment, but the All-Star Game is also a celebration of the best the WNBA has to offer to the world. Since its inception in ’99, the biggest stars have been banding together and putting on a show for the fans. Wish fulfillment? Maybe. But who wouldn’t want to see names like Caitlin Clark and A’ja Wilson play together?

But even though the game isn’t as competitive as it used to be, the players still have something to aim for–the All-Star MVP. This trophy is a symbol of greatness, proving a player’s dominance over the best in the field. In anticipation of the 2025 WNBA All-Star Game, let’s find out who has won this prestigious trophy in the last 10 years.

2024 – Arike Ogunbowale

We’re starting with the latest All-Star Game MVP, Arike Ogunbowale! The Dallas Wings guard put on an absolute clinic against the USWNT, defeating them 117-109 in Phoenix. Ogunbowale defied all odds and put up 34 points, all in the second half of the game, and clinched her second MVP! The way she led her team and how she showed out in the crunch time made this selection well-deserved.

2023 – Jewell Loyd

In 2023, Jewell Loyd repped Seattle in a wonderful exhibition of offensive talent. The five-foot-ten guard broke the record for most points in an All-Star Game, putting up 31 points and taking home the prestigious MVP honors.

2022 – Kelsey Plum

The “Plum Dawg” made waves in her first selection as an All-Star. Kelsey Plum, in a new and improved role for the Las Vegas Aces, made some insane shots from deep to score 30 points! It was a momentous occasion for her, as it was her first time playing in the ASG. She had come in with the intention to win the MVP, and it was hers!

2021 – Arike Ogunbowale

Arike’s first All-Star Game MVP was a pivotal moment in the history of the WNBA. The All-Star team handed an imposing 93-83 defeat to the dangerous Team USA, sending a clear message and announcing the Wings star’s arrival! She scored 26 points to lead her team to victory, and the rest is history…

2019 – Erica Wheeler 

Erica Wheeler’s underdog story came to its crescendo in 2019, when she became the first undrafted player to win the All-Star Game MVP award! Her 25 points, and 7 three-pointers, helped Team Wilson defeat Team Delle Donne 129-126 in Las Vegas, and created an unforgettable legacy for the five-foot-seven guard.

2018– Maya Moore

By 2018, Maya Moore had already taken the basketball world by storm. The Minnesota Lynx legend won her third straight All-Star Game MVP, which is a WNBA record! As always, her performances weren’t one-dimensional. Moore put up 18 points, 8 rebounds, and 6 assists to help lead Team Parker to a 119-112 victory over Team Delle Donne.

2017 – Maya Moore

The second All-Star Game MVP that Maya Moore won was pretty special! It was the last time the West vs East format was followed, with the league moving towards a captain system from the next year. The six-foot-tall point guard showcased her playmaking chops in her 23-point, 6-assist performance, and led the West to a thumping 130-121 victory over the East.

2015 – Maya Moore

2015 was the year that started an incredible spell of winning for Maya Moore. It was a close game in Connecticut, with the West snagging a five-point victory over the East. However, Moore’s 30-point heroics started a legacy and a winning streak that we will never forget. It was the start of something special!

2014 – Shoni Schimmel

Shoni Schimmel shocked the WNBA in her rookie year. The five-foot-nine guard from Oregon was a force of nature in her first year in the league, and was carrying a lot of momentum into her maiden All-Star selection. And even though the odds were against her, Schimmel delivered in style, putting up 29 points as a rookie, and walking home with the All-Star Game MVP!

2013 – Candace Parker

The regular season MVP won the All-Star Game MVP in 2013, but it wasn’t that simple. Candace Parker, in her second All-Star appearance, finally won over the elusive MVP award, putting up a 23-point, 11-rebound double-double. The West beat the East 102-98, and Candace Parker’s All-Star success was a long time coming after her rookie year heroics.

So, it’s safe to say that the WNBA All-Star Game has a rich history of excellence and talent. The best of the best have competed for the crown year in, year out, and it has always been an absolute delight to watch! Similarly, we can’t wait to see who shows out in the very young rosters of this year’s All-Star Game.
