The former standout guard for the University of South Florida, Sammie Puisis, had the time of her life in 2025. Having clinched an average of 14.8 points, 3.3 rebounds, and 0.8 assists per game for the season, the six-feet-one guard made significant contributions to the USF Bulls roster. What’s more? Her best performance in February 2025 against Memphis was to watch out for. Scoring a total of 34 points on 10 field goals within 37 minutes of playing, she led the team to a glorious 80-70 victory.

Despite her achievements at the collegiate level, Puisis’ efforts went unnoticed at the W. Or did they? Just days after the draft ended, the Chicago Sky was quick to let her have a piece in their team. And as a result, Puisis signed a training camp contract with them. However, it wouldn’t last long. The USF guard was one of the three to be waived by the Sky after the first preseason game. But for as long as it lasted, what was the deal like? Let us understand more about Sammie’s contract details, salary breakdowns, and endorsements, if any.

What was Sammie Puisis’ contract with the Chicago Sky?

On April 16th, Sammie Puisis signed with the Chicago Sky on a training camp contract. While the terms of the deals were not disclosed, as per the team’s policy, the estimate is somewhere around $66,000. For whatever short while that lasted, Pusis managed to script history at USF.

The guard is only the 10th player to join the pros from the program, even if it means joining as a free agent. She was also only the 4th active Bull in the WNBA when she signed the contract.

What was Sammie Puisis’ salary for the 2025 WNBA season?

A training camp contract isn’t counted in the salary cap until the player makes it to the roster by the regular season. If Sammie Puisis had, then her contract would have converted to a one-year, unprotected, minimum deal. That would bring her salary to about $66,079.

But while the further details go undisclosed, what we do know, is that Puisis is not completely dependent on her pro team contract. According to her Instagram profile, the former Southern Florida player has a couple of endorsements and NIL deals in her belt.

Staying true to her college roots, the Ohio native had signed a deal with the Tampa General Hospital. Though the details of the contract have been confidential so far, the general hospital collaborated with the player on social media. Being a part of the hospital’s ‘Play with Heart‘ campaign, the Florida star posted a personalised card with a caption that read, “This American Heart Month, Tampa General Hospital is teaming up with Tampa Bay’s top athletes to spread the word about heart health! All February long, we’ll be sharing #PlayWithHeart cards featuring inspiring messages from local sports stars and TGH Heart Health Tips to help you stay in the game.”

For USF Bulls guard Sammie Puisis, playing with heart means staying strong—on and off the court. Check out Sammie’s card and be sure to collect all our heart health tips this month! Because a heart that beats strong, beats the competition every time,” it read. She also partnered with Powerade earlier in January 2025, sharing a few pictures with the power drink on Instagram.

Besides these two, Puisis had NIL deals with brands like Athletes Treads, Influxer Merch, and the NIL store during her stint as a college athlete.

Why was Sammie Puisis waived by the Chicago Sky?

The Chicago Sky officially announced on May 03, 2025, that they have decided to waive off Sammie Puisis. Other players on Sky’s team including Arella Guirantes and Tilly Boler were also waived off on Saturday. Shocking as it may sound, while the Sky won 89-62, Puisis left her mark on the team with an average of 2 points, 1 rebound, on one to six field goal attempts.

The guard was expected to be an asset for the Sky with her field goal percentage reading 37.9 and 37.8 from beyond the arc. That’s a skill Tyler Marsh would prioritize, too. But with 18 on the training camp roster and the regular season limit set at 11 to 12 players, the team, aiming for multi-dimensional athletes, had to weigh their cards.

Sammie Puisis has been a proven talent, ranking 5th nationally in Total 3PM during her final collegiate run. While her pro career has hit a pause, it is anyone’s guess she will be taking to the hardwood soon.
