If A’ja Wilson wins the fifth MVP of her career, WNBA legend Diana Taurasi has made it clear that she would declare the Las Vegas Aces star the ‘G.O.A.T.’ Still, when it comes to the broader Greatest of All Time conversation, Caitlin Clark is another name that continues to come up. Yet her biographer, aka the author of Caitlin Clark: From the Logo, has made it clear what she needs to become the best player this league has ever seen.

“Caitlin Clark can absolutely be the best player of all time. That’s certainly on the table if she can stay healthy in her career long enough,” Robin Lundberg said in his latest appearance on Yahoo Sports Daily. “And I think that’s the next arc here. The Impact arc is already cemented. That foundation is laid, and that is never going to change. Now, it’s what she accomplishes individually as a player, and she’s got to go out there and do it. You need longevity, you need the hardware, the championships and all that.”

“So there is still a big road to pave. But sometimes I feel like Caitlin Clark has weirdly become underrated.”

Caitlin Clark’s impact on the league has been undeniable. The Fever star has already changed the WNBA landscape in ways that go beyond what she has done on the court.

Her arrival has brought a massive increase in viewership and attendance, while also helping push the league into a new financial era. With the new CBA, WNBA players can now earn as much as $1.4 million on a supermax deal.

But to truly strengthen her case in the GOAT conversation, Clark still needs a championship to add to her résumé. Her first year in the league was about finding her footing.

Then her second season ended in just 13 games as she suffered a season-ending injury. And in the ongoing third season, it looks like Fever fans are hopeful that they can make a championship run.

Caitlin Clark is having a standout season. She’s averaging 22.5 points per game, third-best in the league, and a league-leading 8.4 assists per game. Her team is also thriving, leading the WNBA with 97.0 points per game, and thanks to Clark and her teammates, the Fever have already punched their ticket to the playoffs.

That said, there’s one area she’ll need to clean up – turnovers. Clark is giving the ball away 4.6 times per game, which tops the league, and that’s something she’ll need to address as the stakes get higher.

Still, championship or not, her impact has definitely earned her a place in the GOAT conversation. For her teammate, however, she is already the greatest of all time.

Late in August, Caitlin Clark made history- again. She became the first player in WNBA history to put up 30+ points and 10+ assists in back-to-back games. On top of that, she now has six career games with those kinds of numbers, which is more than every other player in league history combined – the rest of the WNBA has managed just four such games total. Her latest milestone came on August 28th, in a game against the Connecticut Sun.

So, during the postgame interview after the win over the Sun, Makayla Timpson made sure to share what she thinks about the 24-year-old.

“She’s incredible,” Timpson said. “She’s our GOAT in the league. She just gives it her all every single night. She just does all the things that she’s going to do. She’s shooting the ball well, giving great assists, and just being her overall, so. My GOAT right here.”

For Caitlin Clark, the path to becoming the WNBA’s GOAT is still being written. She is already one of the top players in the MVP conversation this season. So the debate is no longer about whether she belongs in the Greatest of All Time conversation. It is about how far she can take her résumé from here.
