From wearing jeans banned back in the league’s early years to the high-fashion and streetwear influence seen in players’ “tunnel fits” now, the WNBA’s current era is a major indication of how times have changed. And just as she is making a name for herself on the court, Golden State Valkyries star Gabby Williams is part of this change. However, she has an added advantage that suits her wardrobe to the fullest, that being her endorsement deal with the Jordan brand.

Williams is widely known for wearing outfits with an elevated sporty look. And the Jordan brand happily accommodates her with an abundance of gear, something which she pointed out last year during her appearance on the Club 520 podcast. During that episode, the then Seattle Storm player was asked whether she receives ’20 pairs of shoes and 100 outfits’ in a truck that comes to her house. And that guess was actually correct.

“Honestly, yeah. Everything I have on now is the first time I have put it on. I feel like I don’t really gotta wear things twice, honestly.” Williams, who believes the Jordan brand represents her as a person, said on the Club 520 podcast last July.

“Jordan, compared to any other brand I have been with, they send us these elite packages every month. So you have what’s coming out, they always keep us looking nice. Jordan has made me some PEs, which I love. Sometimes I wear my PEs so much, I get sick of them. So I try to mix it up.” She added.

Apart from the gear, shoes are obviously what defines the Jordan brand. And while Williams does not have her own signature shoe line as of now, she has frequently worn exclusive player editions (PEs) and signature models such as the Jordan Heir Series 2 PE, Jordan Luka 5 “Graffiti”, and Jordan Triangle “NY vs. NY” during WNBA games.

The French star was one of Jordan Brand’s premier female endorsement signings in 2023. The announcement was made from a sleek pop-up design studio in Paris, France, and three of Jordan’s signature athletes, Luka Doncic, Jayson Tatum, and Zion Williamson, were present to welcome Williams.

“It just doesn’t even feel real, that they would do this announcement during QUAI 54 in France… Being a part of this has given me a lot of hope, just seeing Jordan’s engagement on the women’s side. I’ve been here and signed for a week [laughs], and already, they’ve taken an interest in things I want to do outside of just being a player.” Williams said upon signing with the Jordan Brand, via Boardroom.

And of course, Williams also took a moment to reflect on her favorite Michael Jordan moment now that she was affiliated with his brand.

“The Flu Game. Because there’s moments where I don’t feel good, and I’m like, ‘Ok, today is my MJ Flu Game — put me in!’ It’s my motivation.“ Williams said, while also revealing the Air Jordan 1 and the baby blue pair of the Air Jordan 3 North Carolina as her two favorites in the iconic line.

Exposure was another one of Williams’ many benefits as a member of the Jordan brand. Back in 2024, Williams featured in a campaign alongside French soccer player Youssouf Fofana. There, the former UConn star wore a special jacket with her name and the Jumpman logo adorned on the back.

Last year, Williams starred in Jordan Brand’s 40th-anniversary mini-musical ad directed by Wieden+Kennedy alongside NBA peers like Bam Adebayo and Doncic. And just last month, Williams debuted her custom player-exclusive version of the Jordan Heir Series 2 during a live fan event in Berlin with KICKZ.

Coming out of the Jordan bubble, Williams turned quite a few heads during this year’s WNBA All-Star weekend, which was a homecoming for the former Chicago Sky player. Partnering with her stylist Mariah Keopple, a professional ice hockey player herself, the Valkyries star wore one of Keopple’s own pieces for the orange carpet: a black resin corset and a high-waisted skirt with a dramatic, billowing train.

But Williams’ outfits can also fall on the opposite side of the spectrum, as was the case back in 2024. Ahead of a clash against the Phoenix Mercury, Williams decided to add humor to her pregame outfit by wearing a Kamala Harris shirt with the viral meme of her saying, “You think you just fell out of a coconut tree?”

With the Valkyries reaching the WNBA Finals in just their second season, the attention will be on Gabby Williams now more than ever. Especially after her performance in the semifinals against reigning champions Las Vegas Aces, a team that had been her kryptonite in the last few seasons. However, Williams stepped up this time, scoring 25, 20, and 16 points in three games to help her team sweep five-time MVP A’ja Wilson and company.

Williams was appreciated by all her teammates, as well as Jasmine Jordan, Michael Jordan’s daughter, who handles women’s sports marketing for the Jordan Brand. On her Instagram story, Jasmine tagged Williams to celebrate this accomplishment.

October 17th cannot come any sooner for Gabby Williams, who will be willing to show Angel Reese and the Atlanta Dream her abilities on the court while making a high-fashion statement prior to the biggest game in her career in front of a sold-out crowd at Chase Center in San Francisco.
