While the Chicago Sky could not get to the playoffs, they found a ray of hope in Chennedy Carter. Becoming the chief offensive scorer for the Sky, Carter made up for the lack of shooting skills of Angel Reese. However, her recent threads post suggested that she might be leaving the Sky, which got the franchise fans panicking and trolling her on social media. But regardless of the social media frenzy, the 26-year-old is busy enjoying her time in China.
“42 points tonight and the win 🏁 God is the greatest !!! 🤭🤌🏽 #WeMove,” Carter posted on X on Tuesday after she battered up her opponents in the Chinese league. The Wuhan Shengfan star played a regular season game against the Liaoning Flying Eagles on Tuesday in which her team decimated the opponents by a 74-60 margin. With this win, the Shengfan maintained their top position in the league whereas the Flying Eagles occupied the second spot.
Notably, Carter was the chief architect of this win as she hit 42 points with 8 rebounds, 7 assists, and 4 steals. Certainly, the Sky star is lighting up the Chinese women’s basketball league. She looks to have been leading her life unbothered by any murmurs. Previously too, the Texas-born had posted about a meal she was enjoying in a Wuhan restaurant.

“Yes I am fat and can eat,” Carter had written in the caption on Sunday when she went out for a meal with pictures of pasta, California roll, lamb chop, rainbow cake, and brownie. Other than having her food, she also gave ratings out of 10 for each item. Speaks volumes about the foodie she is. Meanwhile, Sky fans are heated up after she hinted at leaving the franchise.

Chennedy Carter might not continue with the Chicago Sky next season
While Reese and Kamilla Cardoso gave their best, no one could match Carter’s offensive sprees. The Sky guard averaged the team’s highest 17.5 points per game along with 48.7% shooting. With this, she also compensated for Reese’s lack of shooting skills as the Chi-Town Barbie could only hit 18.8% threes. Therefore, Carter was the main star going forward this season and Sky would definitely need her next year too. However, she is now in free agency.
Adding to that, Carter shared a post on Threads which to many was a hint of her wanting to leave the Sky. “let’s chat !!! drop the wnba teams you would like to see me sign with next year 🤭 yall be coaches and gms anyways lol lets see what you think !! 🎸🏁,” she stated. It is worth noting that Carter has plied her trade for three different WNBA teams in her five-year career. Therefore, chances are high that she can once again make a move to some other franchise. For this, she was slammed by fans.
What’s your perspective on:
Is Chennedy Carter's success in China a sign the Chicago Sky should fight harder to keep her?
Have an interesting take?
“Go check out Chennedy Carter on the August 24th press conference when the Sky play the Connecticut Sun. She was arguing with someone in the background and threw a chair twice. They also have to babysit her emotions because of her mental health situation. She can be a handful,” one fan commented. Notably, Carter had also gone on thrashing fans online when she had pushed CC during a game against the Indiana Fever, which had earned her a lot of flak. So there is no denying that she has had previous tussles with fans due to her behaviour.

Meanwhile, another fan asked the Sky to take control of the situation. “wtf is the Chicago Sky doing with Chennedy Carter? Y’all better not fumble her,” another fan stated. The Texas A&M alum had signed a one-year contract with the Sky worth $76,535. And hence, the fan must want the franchise to match her expectations.
Hopefully, Carter will not pay heed to the negative comments online and only take notice of the positive things for her. Let’s also hope she takes the Wuhan Shengfan to the title by continuing her on-song performances.
