The offseason has never been more exciting. With the debut of the newest 3×3 league, Unrivaled, basketball fans are loving every moment. It’s not just the stars like Angel Reese shining on the court—it’s also a stage for rising sensations like Paige Bueckers to showcase their talent. Unrivaled is already a massive hit, and the hype just keeps growing.

But things hit a new high in Miami when Las Vegas Aces head coach Becky Hammon made a surprise appearance at the Unrivaled games. The league’s official Instagram account couldn’t wait to share the news, posting a photo of Becky with the caption, “BBECKY HAMMON SPOTTED 👑”

But Becky wasn’t there just for the vibes. Known for always having her players’ backs, her visit had a purpose. She came to cheer on Aces stars Jackie Young and Tiffany Hayes, who have been standing out in the competition. “Jackie can get along with anybody, literally any personality,” Hammon once shared about the Aces’ guard, who can easily glide past opponents with her finesse.

But things didn’t go as planned.

While Hayes went 6-for-16 in 13 minutes of gameplay, Jackie Young didn’t play. Thanks to the team’s second-highest scorer with 16 points, the Aces secured a 63-43 win in today’s game. As for Young, she has been ruled out due to a left knee injury. This comes as a huge blow, as there’s no timeline for her recovery so far. Even the extent of the injury remains unclear.

Injury concerns have been a looming issue for Young ever since she hit the Olympic court. “She’s stronger physically than probably 95% of the guards that she faces,NBC broadcaster LaChina Robinson shared.

Though she returned with a win, it came at a cost to her health. “There’s definitely a little bit of a fatigue factor… Jackie hasn’t been herself since she’s been back,” shared the head coach. And after missing out on a couple of games since then, Young is once again out of sight.

Unrivaled isn’t the only reason; Hammon has a habit of standing up for her players

Well, this isn’t the first time Becky Hammon has stood up for her players. Last year, Tiffany Hayes came out of retirement to heat up the already-loaded Las Vegas Aces roster. “Even though she’s announced her retirement, we just think she’s a heck of a player,” Becky Hammon shared before a game against the Atlanta Dream in Atlanta.

With a career-high of 17.2 points per game, the Aces’ head coach was excited about the possibilities right from the beginning. “She’s buckets! That’s what excites me the most,” added Hammon. And she was right. As a defender, Hayes proved to be the missing piece in the Aces’ puzzle.

But the praise isn’t reserved for Hayes. Whenever her players need her, Hammon is always right there. That’s why she returned to X just to promote the sportsmanship moment between Jackie Young and Caitlin Clark. While it may seem normal to some, it wasn’t, as the last time the head coach posted on X was on March 7th to promote her podcast appearance on The Shop.
