They say greatness shows itself early, and Paige Bueckers is living proof. Not even a year into her pro journey, she’s already the Rookie of the Year, even in a talent-packed season. Her offseason has taken her beyond the court, from golf to acting, yet her heart keeps returning to basketball. Now she’s moving toward her next offseason stop, a decision so unexpected it’s surprising even the founders.

Paige just became the first player to join the WellBall VIP League, alongside Sonia Citron. On December 1, both players took part in the league’s second event in Dallas. Afterward, league captain Stephon Marbury posted a reel and left a message that said it all.
“So, I’m walking with a limp-and I’m not talking about my legs. My legs feel good, but they just got crushed. Crushed by Paige and Sonia Citron. They smashed us. They started making shots like pros. Swish, swish, swish. And they didn’t even work out. WellBall was crazy,” Marbury said.

Paige and Sonia absolutely earned that praise, given that both are incredibly productive players. To start with, Paige averaged 19.2 points on just 15.1 shot attempts, proving she’s an efficient scorer. She backed it up with strong shooting splits: 47.7% from the field and 88.8% at the line for the 2025 season.
Meanwhile, Sonia Citron averaged 14.9 points on only 10.8 shots per game. She matched Paige’s efficiency with 47% shooting from the field and an elite 44.5% from three. She’s a true floor-spacer and shot-maker. So the praise for both the players is not only deserved-it’s timely. The skills of both players’ resumes match the exact requirements of WellBall.

This new league is launched with a mission to introduce “a new style of play” to the city that raised Marbury. The league is built around one simple truth about basketball: shooting. “Everybody wants to shoot. WellBall will be the next wave. The next way people can compete while doing something they love,” Marbury said.
The league held its inaugural event in New York City with Impaired serving as the title partner. Even then, the captain praised Paige. When she joined the VIP league, he celebrated her addition immediately.

“After watching this young lady’s shooting clinic in her highlight reel, I knew WellBall found the perfect fit. But she’s more than just a shooter-she can see the wind when she passes,” the two-time NBA All-Star wrote on Instagram.
After all, Paige shot 53.1% from the field during her rookie season. But that’s not the only big thing happening for Paige and Sonia in December!

WNBA stars are preparing for Team USA!
Back in her days at Hopkins High School in Minnesota, Paige Bueckers won three gold medals with USA Basketball’s youth teams. Coming up this offseason, she’s up for another golden chance. But she isn’t alone.
Caitlin Clark, Angel Reese, Sonia Citron, and several other rising stars have been invited. In total, 18 players are set to participate at Duke University in Durham, North Carolina.

All these players will be trying out for the Team USA senior national team that will compete at the 2026 FIBA World Cup and the 2028 Olympics in Los Angeles. They will get the chance to make a strong first impression at training camp from December 12 to 14.

But of course it won’t be easy, as the competition will be fierce. The camp includes 2024 Olympic gold medalists like Kahleah Copper, Chelsea Gray, Brittney Griner, Kelsey Plum, and Jackie Young. It also features Dearica Hamby, who earned a 3×3 bronze medal at the Paris Games.
