Raven Johnson may be one of the newest faces on the Indiana Fever roster. But she already sounds deeply comfortable in the team and with the personalities around her. The rookie guard recently gave fans a closer look at her relationships with several Fever teammates, including Aliyah Boston, Caitlin Clark, Kelsey Mitchell, and Sophie Cunningham. And in the process revealed where she has found her mother figure, her mirror image, and her dancing partner.

“Aliyah Boston, I played with her in college. She’s like the mother figure that has always been in my circle, and that always gets me right,” she said in the interview shared by IndyStarSports on X. “Sometimes it’d be days when you don’t want to practice, and it’d be days when you’re mentally not here.

“But when you have a person like Aliyah, she gets you right, and she gets you back on the page of where you should be.”

Caitlin Clark, on the other hand, represents something entirely different for Johnson. In fact, as she said, she literally sees herself as a reflection of who Clark is personality-wise.

“And then Caitlin, she’s so funny,” she added, “I think people need to know her outside of basketball. She’s literally like me. We’re like more of energy, she’s always having fun, she’s always smiling, always making jokes.”

What ties all these relationships together is the way each veteran responds when Johnson needs redirecting. Whether she is asking questions or momentarily losing focus, her teammates have made it their business to pull her back.

“In practice, I ask a lot of questions,” she said. “But there’s some times when I kind of zone out, look away, or not pay attention. They get me right. Like they literally snap me back.”

They not only function as the guidance she needs. They also give her the kind of connection and comfort that helps her enjoy the team environment. For example, someone like Sophie Cunningham already seems to have built a fun bond with her.

“And then Sophie, that’s my girl. I love dancing with Sophie. Everything you name it, I like to do it with Sophie,” Johnson said,

And for a veteran like Kelsey Mitchell, Johnson clearly sees greatness and humility in her. As she said, she even called Mitchell “the GOAT” after hearing about her latest achievement. And in her words, “she’s so humble with it.”

With all these personalities surrounding her, the nurturing presence of Boston, the energy of Caitlin Clark, the fun in Cunningham, and the legacy of Mitchell, Raven Johnson has found exactly what a rookie needs to grow. It is the perfect recipe for not just surviving a first professional season, but truly thriving in it.

Caitlin Clark Praised Raven Johnson’s Inquisitive Mindset After Just Six Games With Fever

As of now, Raven Johnson has appeared in each of the Indiana Fever’s 14 games this season. And even though she is still one of the newest faces on the roster, she has been impressive from the early days of her time with the team.

After just six games with the Fever, Caitlin Clark praised Johnson’s inquisitive mindset and described her as a positive addition to the team.

“She’s been learning a lot. She asks a lot of really great questions,” Caitlin Clark said. “So I think just the positive vibes that she’s brought in here has been a really fun addition for us. So super proud of her, and it’s been cool to see how much better she’s already gotten in the six games that we’ve played.”

While she is not yet one of the main pieces on the team, Johnson is gradually finding her place. She has averaged 13 minutes per game, and she has still managed to deliver averages of 4.4 points, 1.3 assists, and 1.6 rebounds per game.

Hopefully, with all the support systems she has surrounding her, she will continue on an upward trajectory of development and maybe one day become a key part of the team’s core.
