And recently, another example of her business expertise has come to light. In a recent post by Bleacher Report, it was announced that Angel Reese has officially trademarked her name. While it may come as a surprise, she isn’t the only sports personality who has decided to trademark their name. She has joined popular sports personalities such as LeBron James, Michael Jordan, Roger Federer, and many more. This is also not the only trademark attached to Reese as she has already trademarked “Mebounds” when she created the brand.

Fans’ reaction to Angel Reese getting her name trademarked

A fan commented on the post, “Yessirrr smart move.” As mentioned above, this is indeed a very smart move. Ensuring that her name is trademarked, now Angel Reese has all the legal power to stop any unauthorized person or company from using her name.

Another fan acknowledged her business acumen and said, “We love a businesswoman🙂‍↕️.” This decision is certainly all about business. As we have already seen from “Mebounds” Angel Reese is very clever when it comes to using the so-called ‘haters’ and ‘trolls’ to her own advantage. As the famous saying goes, “All PR is good PR.” While we can debate the validity of the statement, the truth is, at least in this case, any negative publicity or commentary will result in a financial gain for Angel Reese.

While most were busy congratulating, a fan also cleared things out for laymen and laid out the facts about trademarks. They commented, “To be clear trademarks do not restrict journalism/media. This is to prevent anyone from selling goods or services with her name on it. Just like Lebron and Beyoncé have done.” As the fan explained so eloquently, getting her name trademark does not mean that anytime we, or the media, talk about her, we need to pay. What it does is stop any fake products from coming into the market. Not only does this benefit Angel Reese, but it can also help the fans, as they will not be tricked into buying any fake or unauthorized purchase having Angel Reese’s name.

Another fan reacted while pointing out Angel Reese’s business savvy. They commented, “Building that empire, brick by brick.” This six-word statement is as true as they come. For a long time, the main part of a player’s earnings was from their salary. While this could soon be the new scenario again, right now, for the WNBA players, earnings from endorsement deals far outweigh their earnings on the court. Take Caitlin Clark as an example. As the #1 pick in the WNBA, she is making just $78K. But her earnings from deals such as Nike, Stanley, and many more far outweigh these earnings.

Similarly, Angel Reese is in the same boat. She makes even less than CC in terms of WNBA salary. But her endorsement deals or her own merchandise are the major sources of her income.

Another fan reacted emphatically and even made a prediction. They commented on the post, “Whoever is her agent, or even if she came up with it she definitely in her bag. Watch the other top tier players do what she did.” While it may remain unclear whose idea it was, one thing is certain. This trademark is going to make Angel Reese a lot of money. And with the WNBA moving at lightning speed, it will not be a surprise if other players also follow suit.

Angel Reese is clearly one of the most clever businesswomen in the sporting world and as soon as other players start to see results, they are set to register their names as trademarks as well.
