When the pressure has been on the Dallas Wings this season, the ball has mostly reached one familiar player: the team’s No. 5 Paige Bueckers. On Monday, it was a familiar situation for the Wings against the Seattle Storm. And for all the money, Bueckers delivered yet again, clinching the win for her team and making some WNBA history along the way.

The Wings guard exploded for a team-high 27 points in the game, along with 5 rebounds and 5 assists. She was hot from the field throughout the game, scoring 12 of 23 from the field and 3 of 6 from downtown. Notably, her stat line also helped Bueckers surpass the 1,000-point mark in the WNBA. And now, Bueckers is the fourth-quickest (52 games) to reach that tally.

Bueckers is now tied with Elena Delle Donne on the list. Cynthia Cooper-Dyke (45 games), Seimone Augustus (46 games), and Arike Ogunbowale (51 games) are the only three players ahead of her in this metric.

This scoring record is a testament to Bueckers’ consistency in the league. Ever since she suited up for the Wings in 2025, the UConn grad has taken the WNBA by storm. A glimpse of it was also evident in Wings’ latest game against the Seattle Storm at the Climate Pledge Arena.

Paige Bueckers began her scoring spree a bit late in the game. She scored her basket in the fifth minute of the first quarter. But from that point, Bueckers didn’t put the brakes on for the entire game.

She anchored the entire offense of the team, but the most dramatic moment of her performance came in the fourth quarter. With an 8-point scoring spree from Awa Fam and Natisha Hiedeman, Seattle rallied to take a 6-point lead with just over a minute left in the game.

But that’s when Bueckers came in clutch for her team. She scored back-to-back jumpers from deep to within 45 seconds to tie the score. And when Dominique Malonga yet again tilted the game in Seattle’s favor with a layup, Bueckers retaliated with a 12-foot two-point shot to send the game to overtime.

She continued her mayhem in overtime as well, recording 9 points to eventually clinch a 112-100 win over Seattle in a thrilling back-and-forth clash. Notably, the Wings guard was also defensively solid in the game. She made sure to keep a check on the Seattle players through defensive stops.

Bueckers’ all-around performance and late heroics yet again showed why she’s the team’s cornerstone. Paige Bueckers was well complemented by fellow guard Azzi Fudd. The Dallas rookie recorded 26 points in the game.

Meanwhile, Aziaha James and Jessica Shepard also had double figures in points on the night. But at the end of the night, it was solely Paige Bueckers who deserved the props for the wins.

Jose Fernandez Heaps Praise on Paige Bueckers’ Late Plays That Kept Dallas in Contention

The Seattle Storm never made it easy for the Dallas Wings in the game. Dominique Malonga, Awa Fam, and Natisha Hiedeman had exposed the Wings’ defense time and again on the night. Furthermore, Seattle even matched toe-to-toe with the Wings in almost every metric on the box score.

And even outplayed Jose Fernandez’s team from the three-point line (45% against Dallas’ 38%). Yet despite this back-and-forth contest, the Wings managed to clinch a crucial away win. And Fernandez knew that this win had a lot to do with Paige Bueckers’ heroics.

“When you don’t play well, and you don’t show up, you’re going to get beat, and we need, individually and collectively, to show up every night,” Fernandez said as per the Dallas Hoops Journal YouTube channel. “But, I mean, what Paige did with her two and the two threes were incredible plays. That’s why she is who she is.”

With this win, the Dallas Wings now extend their winning streak to two games. They are 11-6 in the season, sitting third in the Western Conference. The team is slated to face the Las Vegas Aces next on the road at the Michelob Ultra Arena on June 25.
