LA Sparks vs Indiana Fever Preview & Prediction

The Sparks (17–19) enter Friday night after a 92–84 loss to Phoenix, a game where they struggled to defend the three-point line. That stumble, however, gave Indiana the opening they needed.

The Fever took full advantage, securing a crucial win over Seattle to boost their playoff hopes. With that victory, and the Sparks’ loss, Indiana’s number to clinch a playoff berth dropped to five with six games remaining. A win on Friday would lower it to three.

But the Sparks still hold the upper hand head-to-head, leading the season series 3–0. If they defend home court and pick up the win, Los Angeles would pull within a single game of Indiana in the standings while owning the tiebreaker. That makes this matchup even more high-stakes.

Adding to the intrigue: a marquee duel between two of the league’s most prolific scorers. Kelsey Plum (20.4 points PPG, 4th in the league) and Kelsey Mitchell (20.7 PPG, 3rd) go head-to-head, and it’s hard to imagine this one being anything but high-scoring.

By the numbers, the Sparks average 86.3 points per game, slightly above the 82.6 points Indiana allows. On the flip side, the Fever average 85.3 points, just a tick below the 88.6 Los Angeles concedes.

Prediction: Expect this one to be close from start to finish. The Sparks’ dominance in the season series can’t be ignored, but Indiana’s momentum and playoff urgency give them a real shot. Edge goes to the Fever but by the slimmest of margins.
