This offseason was different. Fans didn’t spend it missing their faves hopping. Neither did they spend hours scouring the internet to find those clips of them playing overseas. Well, all thanks to Unrivaled, we got an entertainment-packed offseason. And with all the great things that went down, it also changed a lot of dynamics. We got to see pairings we didn’t expect to see during WNBA. Unexpected friendships, duos, and squads that we never thought would be together. And at the center of all this was none other than our social bee, Angel Reese.
Can you believe she’s now friends with none other than Lexie Hull, long-time rival Caitlin Clark’s teammate? Reese was out here channeling her girls’ girl energy, building solid bonds, serving looks, and slaying her social media game like no one else.
We saw the best rookie-veteran duo. The Sky newbie and Kahleah Copper, who was a part of Chicago’s sole-championship-winning squad. It all started with Reese teasing Copper by calling her “grandma” for hesitating to do TikTok dances. She once joked, “Grandma, you are not that old,” when Copper turned down the chance to join her in a video, and it had everyone cracking up.

Fast forward to now, with all these players back at their W teams grinding it out in training camp, Copper recently made a TikTok with her Phoenix Mercury teammates, including Satou Sabally. Well, guess who didn’t waste any time coming for Copper? Obviously, Chi-Town Barbie.
Kah posted on X, “I made a TikTok yall & guess who texted me coming for my neck… ANGEL 🙃😭” And the comment section was lit, with fans saying, “As she should!” Too many people were here for it. But keeping all the playful banter aside, Reese and Copper have really grown close.

Copper, who was a bit reluctant at first, but then fully embraced the fun, joining Reese in several TikTok challenges—one where they even tried to finish the lyrics to LiAngelo Ball’s viral song “Tweaker.”
With all these viral moments and fun, the Rose squad also bagged the first-ever Unrivaled title. Now that they are back, it’s honestly amazing to see that these are just as strong as they were during Unrivaled, even though playing against each other. We saw Reese hyping up Hull when she got engaged.

Can Angel Reese and Hailey Van Lith's college chemistry ignite a new era for the Chicago Sky?
Have an interesting take?
Then, in another Reese-Kah moment, Copper gave fans a fun, behind-the-scenes look by posting a photo dump on Instagram from Mercury’s media day, and the Sky star, true to form, dropped the classic “weirdo” and “I’m so off you” but then added “this cute tho I guess…” in the comments. It’s all about the jokes, but the respect is real.
After all, Reese even tried to ‘bring back’ Kah to Sky. During an Unrivaled 3×3 league media event in March 2025, Reese was chanting, “Get Kah back! Get Kah back!” while sitting next to Copper. Unfortunately, that didn’t happen, but it’s clear that Reese is embracing the new teammates she does have.
Angel Reese steps up as Hailey Van Lith’s big sister
Chicago Sky’s newest addition, Hailey Van Lith has a familiar face by her side as she reunites with her former LSU teammate, Angel Reese. The pair is bringing their chemistry from the college court to the WNBA. “We both are just tough dogs on the court,” Van Lith said. “She’s willing to do the gritty stuff, like aggressive rebounding and defense—things that aren’t exactly the ‘pretty’ side of basketball.”
Those qualities are part of what drew the Sky to Van Lith, who’s been no stranger to making deep runs in the NCAA Tournament. She’s the first player in history to be part of three teams that made it to the Elite Eight—first at Louisville, then LSU, and most recently, TCU. Together, she and Reese are ready to take their partnership to the pro level, after LSU fell short of defending their 2023 national title in a heartbreaking loss to Clark and Iowa in the regional final.

On social media, Reese gave fans a taste of their reunion. “We ain’t do it right the first time,” she posted on X. “Let’s run it backkkkk.” The media and fans have high expectations, and Reese is right there to offer support. “I know there’s a lot of pressure on her,” said LSU alumna in a recent training camp interview. “I know what it’s like being that big name coming in and everyone expects big things right off the bat.”

Reflecting on her own rookie season, Reese revealed how tough it was not having many veterans to lean on. “Being that ‘big sister’ to Hailey this year means a lot.” With Reese taking on that leadership role, she’s ready to guide Van Lith. After a tough 13-27 record in Reese’s rookie season, the Sky are hoping Van Lith’s arrival will help shift the team’s momentum. In a full-circle moment, the team’s preseason kicks off on May 2 at LSU.
