When Fever GM Amber Cox saw Lexie Hull against Minnesota, she wrote on X, “Lexie Hull is tough as hell.” And it’s no exaggeration. It’s Game 2, and Hull had already taken her second hard hit to the head. After an elbow from Kayla McBride on Sunday and a head collision today with Gabby Williams, she stayed in the game. But while she’s strong herself, it’s surely her mates who fuel her to keep going. Though nobody does it more than CC!
On Tuesday night, when Hull returned to the court with a sizeable knot on her forehead, her bench reminded her she still looked beautiful. But it was CC spotted by ION Cams, who came up and gave Hull a warm, cozy, “Coldplay couple” style hug as the Indiana Fever star had just completed playing 23 minutes. Not just that, the No. 6 overall pick by the Fever in the 2022 draft also added five points with nine rebounds, a steal, and an assist versus the Storm despite getting injured.
So yeah, that hug was much needed. Even though Clark’s reaction upon realising that the two were on the Jumbotron was priceless. But this ain’t the first time CC’s supported her mates with slight gestures. From throwing herself up at officials after a controversial foul to doing preparations for Hull’s engagement, the former Hawkeye star does everything to make her teammates feel special. “We’re good friends, we hang out a good amount, and she’s just a fun person to be around,” Hull admitted last year. But yes, CC’s influence isn’t just limited to off the court.

Before she arrived in the W as the No. 6 pick by the Fever at the 2022 draft, Hull once dominated at Stanford. However, her W career saw her go under the radar, and her confidence dipped. But ever since the beginning of the 2024 season, her name and game have changed. All thanks to CC’s passing skills, which gave her mate the opportunity to play more than she was used to. “I definitely got passes and tried to finish when I wasn’t expecting to get the ball,” Hull said of Clark’s passing vision last year during an episode of the Dunker Spot. “Now it’s like, every cut I have, every cut I make, every fast break I run, I have a real opportunity to get the ball, which definitely took me a second. And I think it really just took one of those to get my head around.”

And that practice with CC? It helped her during Unrivaled and will keep helping her along the way.

In March, when Scott Agness asked Hull how teaming up with Caitlin Clark in 2024 prepped her for catching passes from Gray in Unrivaled, Hull didn’t overcomplicate it. She pointed to one thing that decides all great plays. “I think that’s what’s so great about playing with really great point guards, is you do the hard work and they make the shots easy,” Hull said. “So it’s really great just trying to get open, get to the best positions I can, and I have confidence that they’re going to find me and they have confidence that I’ll be in the right spot. So it’s really great to keep bouncing off both of them.” Yes, confidence. Now, many thought that Clark is an individual player and not a team player, but Hull set the record straight.

“She made me believe in myself again,” Hull said. “She wasn’t just focused on her own performance—she genuinely wanted all of us to succeed.” She further gave her the prettiest flowers ever, saying, “Caitlin didn’t just save my career; she reminded me why I love this game”. So, that hug? It reminded us of this bond of theirs. Now, it’s visible in her game as she’s putting out a career-high average of 26.8 minutes with seven points and 4.4 rebounds per game. But it ain’t just CC’s bonding with Hull that’s worth celebrating!

Caitlin Clark’s boyfriend’s here too…
There hasn’t been a single instance where Connor McCaffery has failed to impress. Even on Tuesday night, when CC was sidelined for her 16th game this season, the proud bf didn’t forget to support. He showed up with a black hoodie featuring CC’s signature logo on it. Well, that’s premium support, as the logo, which was promised as part of a $28 million contract last year, was unveiled just yesterday. And as it is “more than just a logo, it’s a dream come true” for Caitlin Clark, so a perfect choice to wear when coming to Indiana’s game.

But the hood Connor was flexing hasn’t been out yet. While he’s lucky enough, you won’t be. You would only get navy and yellow T Shirts by September 1st, whereas the full clothing capsule with shorts, T-shirts, Caps, etc available with special sizes a month later. Still and all, in the Gainsbridge arena, Indy collaborated with Nike and gave a “Caitlin was here” T-shirt with her new signature logo to everyone in attendance.
