With the Indiana Fever’s season over after a heartbreaking loss against the Las Vegas Aces, the players are enjoying their offseason. While some players have already headed down to their vacation spots, some of the Fever’s roster have chosen to stay and support the city’s NFL franchise, the Indianapolis Colts. When the Colts released a post with Indiana Fever players showing up for the game, the video led to some backlash from the fans.

As the Colts got ready to face the Las Vegas Raiders, the Indiana Fever’s Aari McDonald, Makayla Timpson, and Caitlin Clark were present at Lucas Oil Stadium to show their support. The Colts shared a video of the players with their own customized jerseys.

However, the video invited some unintended criticism from some fans. As it turns out, the Colts’ initial video was captioned, “22 and Indiana Fever in the building!!” However, they have since deleted that post. Pointing this out, the fans reacted strongly to the Indianapolis Colts removing the video from its official X page.

A fan responding to this comment said, “apparently it’s because people complained that they captioned it ’22 and the fever,’ instead of naming each player lmfao. they shoulda just kept it up.” As humble as Caitlin Clark is, there is no denying that her name is a big deal.

In many people’s opinion, one of the biggest reasons why Napheesa Collier brought Caitlin Clark’s name into her exit interview statement was that she also knew that her statement would get an even bigger reception if Caitlin Clark’s name were added.

Therefore, it is understandable why the Colts stressed Caitlin Clark’s name (or number in this case) in their X post.

“Colts deleted a post about Caitlin Clark bc fans got offended by a caption referring to 22 by her number, but not her teammates by name everyone supports free speech until it puts cc in a positive light.” A fan had this to say as they were clearly miffed by the Colts’ decision to remove the post, which included a special mention to Caitlin Clark (22).

Another fan pointed out the irony and gave some NBA examples to showcase their case: “MJ and the Bulls. Lebron and the Lakers. Caitlin and the Fever, etc, they can cope harder.” With this example, the fan points out that there have been numerous instances where the team’s best player is named separately from the team.

While there were plenty of reactions, either defending or opposing the Colts’ deleted post, a few fans chose to see the funny side to the incident.

One fan commented,No wonder she won’t wear the Jersey @Colts admin is soft 🤣.” The actual reason why Caitlin Clark did not wear the jersey has more to do with her loyalty to the Kansas City Chiefs. She has publicly admitted to being a Chiefs fan. Her love for the Chiefs began because her father was a passionate fan of the team.

Despite the controversy, Caitlin Clark’s presence was a good omen for the Indianapolis Colts, as the team had a massive 40-6 win against the Las Vegas Raiders and moved to a 4-1 record.

However, the fans’ reaction after the Colts deleted the post has given off an impression of controversy following Caitlin Clark, wherever she goes. Recent Napheesa Collier’s revelation of comments made by the league commissioner has led to strong reactions in support of the Indiana star.
