Caitlin Clark and Kelsey Mitchell have officially been recognized among the WNBA’s best after both Indiana Fever guards were named to the 2026 Associated Press All-WNBA First Team. And the Fever wasted no time celebrating their historic backcourt duo. Taking to X, the franchise hailed Clark and Mitchell as the most elite backcourt duo in WNBA history after their remarkable regular seasons.
“The most elite backcourt duo in WNBA history ✨ congrats to Caitlin Clark and Kelsey Mitchell on being named to @AP All-WNBA First Team 🤩,” the post read.
And true to what the post said, Caitlin Clark and Kelsey Mitchell have not only been the best offensive duo in the WNBA this season, but also among the most productive teammate pairings in league history. With Mitchell averaging 24.7 points and Clark averaging 22.3 points per game, ranking second and third in the league, respectively, the two combined to average 47 points per game during the 2026 regular season. This is officially the most in league history for any pair of teammates.
During their mid-season surge, the duo also broke records for the most concentrated offensive production by teammates in league history. They combined for 516 points over a 10-game span, the most ever by a WNBA duo. In fact, they went even further, extending that record to 664 points over a 13-game stretch.
Individually, both have also been beyond exceptional. Kelsey Mitchell set a WNBA single-season record with 1,086 points and 135 three-pointers. She also made history as the first player to average more than 20 points while shooting at least 50 percent from the field, 45 percent from three-point range, and 80 percent from the free-throw line. On top of that, Mitchell scored 20 or more points in 27 consecutive games, setting an all-time WNBA record.
Caitlin Clark, on the other hand, became the first player with more than 800 points and 300 assists in a single season, finishing with 891 points and 333 assists. Alongside her 22.3 points per game, she also ranked second in the league for assists, averaging 8.3 assists per game. That means she ranked in the top three in both categories simultaneously, making her the first player in history to do that.
It’s no wonder why the Indiana Fever ended up with the league’s highest-ever team offensive rating at 117.0. They also smashed the league record by eclipsing 100 points as a team 20 times in a single season.
Caitlin Clark and Kelsey Mitchell earned their spots on this AP All-WNBA First Team alongside A’ja Wilson of the Las Vegas Aces, Olivia Miles of the Minnesota Lynx, and Breanna Stewart of the New York Liberty, all of whom had equally brilliant seasons.
A’ja Wilson led the league with a dominant 26.2 points, alongside 9.4 rebounds and 3.2 assists per game. Lynx rookie standout Olivia Miles, on the other hand, anchored her team with 19.8 points, 4.7 rebounds, and 6.0 assists per game. And veteran forward Breanna Stewart delivered another stellar campaign, averaging 20.8 points, 8.3 rebounds, and 3.3 assists per game.
Along with her first-team selection, Caitlin Clark was also the AP Comeback Player of the Year after returning from an injury-shortened 2025 season. She played just 13 games during the 2025 WNBA season, and the Fever had to play the playoffs without her, ultimately losing to the Las Vegas Aces.
Well, they have the chance to try again now with Clark fit and ready and Kelsey Mitchell alongside her. She and Mitchell will now look to replicate the same level of brilliance they have displayed all season as they take on the Las Vegas Aces in the first round of the playoffs.
