The Indiana Fever have officially responded after former forward Brianna Turner made serious allegations about the team’s handling of a male staff member accused of sexual harassment. In the response, shared by WNBA analyst Annie Costabile on X, the Fever front office released a statement reaffirming its commitment to player safety and workplace professionalism, while declining to discuss specific personnel matters.

“Protecting our players and employees and maintaining a respectful, professional workplace is our top priority,” the statement read. “Our policy is to take concerns seriously, investigate thoroughly, and act promptly when appropriate to protect the people in our organization and ensure everyone is treated with professionalism and respect. Fostering trust and safety in that process means we do not comment on personnel matters involving former employees.”

Turner, who played for the Fever during the 2025 season, claimed in a post made on Thursday that a male staff member on the Indiana Fever was fired for sexual harassment last year. However, it was what the organization did after this that caused a huge stir across the sports world.

“An issue that has caused problems though? Last year on my WNBA team a male staff member was fired for sexual harassment, but we were encouraged to keep quiet about it. That is an issue. Sexism, misogyny, homophobia, and racism are all issues,” the post read.

Turner made the revelation as part of a broader thread she put out in defence of transgender athletes, following the recent U.S. Supreme Court ruling allowing states to ban transgender girls and women from participating in female sports. The sexual harassment allegation was raised specifically to make the point that transgender athletes are not the significant problem many frame them as.

“A tiny minority of the population identifies as trans, yet they are always a trending topic unfortunately. I’m in my 8th season as a WNBA player. To date there’s been one out trans player in the league. They caused zero problems,” she wrote.

What she argued are the real and pressing issues deserving of attention are sexism, misogyny, homophobia, racism, and sexual harassment, the last of which, she claimed, was something that actually occurred during her time with the Indiana Fever last season.

Turner’s allegation has quickly gained traction online and has prompted a wave of reactions and commentary from fans, players, and analysts. It ultimately drew the Indiana Fever into releasing a formal statement, one that affirmed their commitment to player safety without directly addressing the specifics of what Turner described.

Where the situation goes from here remains to be seen. But with the statement now out and the allegations firmly part of the public record, the conversation is unlikely to end here.

However, according to a report from the New York Post, a source close to the situation provided additional context regarding the incident Turner referenced.

As published by the New York Post, the source claimed that the Indiana Fever staff member Turner referenced in her allegation was actually a low-level staff member within the franchise.

The source also claimed that the issue in question stemmed from an “inappropriate comment” that was described as “vulgar and disrespectful,” which the staff member allegedly made during a private conversation with another staffer.

According to the source, as reported by the New York Post, the comment was not made in the presence of any Indiana Fever players. The source further claimed that the comment was immediately reported to the appropriate authority within the organization, which subsequently led to the termination of the staff member’s employment.
