The Indiana Fever are on a three-game winning streak. As they approach their toughest road stretch of the season, they could potentially be without Caitlin Clark, as she suffered an injury scare in the win against the Dallas Wings on Saturday. However, per an update by reporter Scott Agness, Clark’s status has been mentioned as “probable,” with no mention of her ankle, which should be a relief for the Indiana fans.

Clark was listed as probable even before the Dallas game on August 14, citing her back issue. In the second quarter, Clark twisted her ankle on an off-the-ball play with under a minute remaining. She was seen limping off the court just before the end of the second quarter.

Clark was able to return, though, and performed reasonably well despite any issues that may have bothered her. She finished the night with a team high of 29 points and 10 assists, while shooting 61.1% from the field and 25.0% from beyond the arc in a strong display for the Indiana Fever as they beat the Dallas Wings 98-87.

However, Caitlin Clark has again been listed as ‘probable’ for the game against the Atlanta Dream, once more citing her back issue. This is the 26th time this season that she has been listed as ‘probable,’ per Scott Agness’ post on X. While she has played through most of these injury concerns, the Fever have adopted a cautious approach in her usage. For the Fever, Aliyah Boston is also listed as probable due to a leg issue.

Clark, who made her third consecutive All-Star appearance this season, remains vital for this Indiana team. She is averaging 21.9 points, 3.9 rebounds, 8.3 assists, and 1.0 steals per game, leading Indiana and the entire league in assists per game. Furthermore, she has become the fastest player in WNBA history to reach 700 career assists, doing so in just 83 career games, per a Fever release.

The Indiana Fever has coped well when Caitlin Clark has missed game time this season, particularly as Kelsey Mitchell has taken most of that offensive load in her absence. Mitchell is averaging 24.3 points, 1.7 rebounds, 2.7 assists, and 1.0 steals per game this season and leads the team in scoring, even ahead of Clark.

But the Fever face a challenging schedule, as they play five games in the next eight days. They face some of the tougher teams in the league: the Atlanta Dream, New York Liberty, and the Dallas Wings again in this stretch. Having Caitlin Clark and Boston on the floor could be crucial to get favorable results here.

With just 10 regular-season games left in the season for the Fever, coach Stephanie White would look to avoid any slip-ups as the Fever chase their first championship since 2012.
