Aliyah Boston had already bought the bathing suits for her trip to Puerto Rico. Now, they’ll remain packed away as a painful reminder of the Team USA opportunity that an injury stole from her.
Speaking on a recent podcast, Post Moves, Boston didn’t mince words, offering a simple but heartbreaking summary of her feelings about the missed opportunity.

“I’m so sad I’m not in Puerto Rico. I hope you know I bought like bathing suits and everything. So that’s unfortunate.”
Aliyah Boston was initially selected to represent Team USA in the qualifiers but was later ruled out after she sustained the injury. The setback also forced her to miss the postseason in the Unrivaled league, where she had been competing prior to the national team call-up.
Despite her absence, Team USA opened the tournament in emphatic fashion. The Americans cruised to a 110–46 win over Senegal, showcasing their depth and offensive firepower. The performance featured contributions from across the roster, including Clark, who helped orchestrate the offense as the United States shot nearly 59 percent from the field and drained 17 three-pointers.

She also shared more details about the moment she realized something wasn’t right physically during her final appearance in Unrivaled on February 27 while she was playing for Phantom BC.

“During the Rose game, it wasn’t like a specific play that happened. It was just like the feeling that I had. And honestly, I felt like I was like 15 steps behind everything that was going on. Like, I literally just felt like I was like moving so slow. And so I was like battling obviously something in my lower leg. And I was like, you know what, I’m not helping. I’m really not helping the team. Everything’s not really feeling great. But my girls handled it. They slayed. We finished, and we won that game. Just so sad about playoffs. I was so sad,” she added.
Even without her, the Phantoms still managed to reach the Unrivaled finals before eventually falling to Mist BC. But Boston’s absence from the postseason, and now Team USA, highlighted just how unfortunate the timing of the injury was.
But now, her focus remains on recovery, as she will have to wait a little longer before getting another chance to suit up alongside Clark and the rest of the national team roster.

While Team USA continued its campaign in Puerto Rico, the absence of Boston remained noticeable for those closely connected to the roster. “Most importantly, just checking in on her,” White told IndyStar. “I think that she’s happy to have a direction (in Indianapolis), but at the same time, it’s disappointing not being here. I’m sure it’s disappointing not finishing Unrivaled, disappointing not being here and the opportunity that she had.”

White further added, “She put in a lot of work this offseason and it showed, so now it’s a little bit of a setback. But I think from a mentality standpoint, she’s a positive person in general, and she’s going to attack this process in the way that she would anything else.”
