A late 14-0 run means that the Connecticut Sun registered their 20th win this season. On the back of a standout performance by their talented No. 21 DiJonai Carrington (19 points, 4 rebounds) the franchise secured a 69-61 victory over the LA Sparks. But the headlining part of this contest is the piece of history it includes. Seemingly, this fixture is the first WNBA game to take place at the storied TD Garden.

However, despite such immense significance and the fact that this 19,156-capacity stadium witnessed a sold-out, Carrington expresses some sort of dissatisfaction. In the post-game media address, she said, “Connecticut as a franchise is historically disrespected. I think they could have bring in a lot of publicity and promo.”
According to DiJonai Carrington, the franchise made an official announcement of such development approximately a year ago. So, that gave the organizers plenty of time to work towards a proper build-up. But, that was not all. Some additional lapses in its promotion resulted in the game missing out on a national television broadcast. Consequently, 5 ft 11 didn’t back down from extending her honest take in this regard as well.

“The game should have been on the national television broadcast,” Carrington further adds. “You shouldn’t have to pay for any type of subscription to see a game that’s this historic, in my opinion.”

Anyhow, these comments come to the surface in response to a question posed by the reporters about a previous tweet of hers.
DiJonai Carrington fires some shots
“Women’s sports are here to stay, and this is a wonderful celebration and confirmation of that fact.” This is Connecticut Sun President Jen Rizzotti hyping up before her franchise’s first appearance at Celtics home. Unfortunately, she received very minimum support from elsewhere and the little she got was from her own roster.
An example of that is this sarcastic post from DiJonai Carrington on X which says, “Since we gotta do our own promo… We’re playing at the @tdgarden tonight & it’s SOLD OUT 19k+. First W game here ever. Historic. Not on tv, but you can catch it right here on twitter.”
Connecticut fans will hope that something better transpires for them in the future. Regardless, nothing can be taken away from the reception that the franchise received on this historic occasion. And, the Sun got everyone’s money’s worth with their impressive display.
