One can almost imagine Caitlin Clark’s dad, Brent Clark, rolling his eyes. Last year, during a March Madness game, you could see Clark being Clark – animatedly throwing her hands around due to an unfair foul call. And just when you thought she might be heard, the camera panned to her father, who seemed to be yelling, “Stop!“. But it seems like old habits die hard. During the Fever’s clash with the Los Angeles Sparks, the reigning Rookie of the Year was at it again! Known for her intense interactions with officials, Clark was seen in a state of fury. But this time, things took a turn. She faced retaliation from an opposition player before her father could say something.

The past few games proved that even the best can hit a rough patch. Caitlin Clark went just 1-for-23 from beyond the arc in her last three outings – a stat that’s almost unthinkable for someone of her shooting pedigree. But now, it has become clear that something wasn’t right. The Fever later confirmed that Clark had been playing through a groin injury, which was revealed after she reported pain during training and underwent an MRI.

Now, this meant that Clark would go on to miss her 6th game of the season. A big blow for the Fever! After all, this is the same player who had never missed a single professional game due to injury before her left quad strain. But this is Caitlin Clark we’re talking about. Injury or not, she wasn’t going to stay away. She showed up courtside, cheering her teammates on, and of course, as soon as she didn’t agree with the refs, we got another episode of Caitlin vs. the Whistle.

She leaned into another particularly animated rant. And who walks across the court just then? Kelsey Plum. With a mischievous grin on her face, Plum seemed to be asking Clark to sit down if she didn’t want a tech to go with that. But Clark, naturally, kept going. So Plum did a double-take, spun around, and started pointing at her, this time making a full-blown case to the refs for a technical. Clark then turned around with a slight laugh, and with her, all of Gainbridge was laughing.

So, fair to say that Plum went all Brent on Clark. In that MM game we previously mentioned, CC’s dad could be heard saying, ‘Take her out, my gosh”. And while this one comment came for a different reason than fury, the echo is hard to ignore.

Now, this isn’t the first time Caitlin had a lot to say to the refs from the touchline. Remember the first game without Caitlin Clark this season against the Mystics? The Fever had lost the game 88-77, but Clark, throughout the game, had problems with the officials. So much so that at halftime, she walked straight over to the officials, pointing at the court and holding what seemed to be a piece of paper, likely a stat sheet or game notes. She was clearly trying to make a case. After that, she joined one of the assistant coaches and continued the discussion with another referee.

What’s your perspective on:

Should Caitlin Clark tone down her on-court antics, or is it part of her charm?

Have an interesting take?

Now, Caitlin’s fiery nature has drawn her scrutiny from the fans, and understandable, honestly. Last season, she was one game away from getting a match ban. And even tonight, she was seen yelling at the referees multiple times as the Fever let an 8-point halftime lead slip away in a tough loss to the Sparks.

Stephanie White gives an update on Caitlin Clark’s injury

Caitlin Clark’s shooting woes were on full display once again against the Seattle Storm. She went just 3-of-13 from the field and missed all six of her attempts from beyond the arc. Clearly, something wasn’t right. Then came the news no Fever fan wanted to hear: “Caitlin Clark (groin) ruled out Thursday,” tweeted Underdog WNBA. Coach Stephanie White was quick to provide an injury update.

“It’s very much a day-to-day thing, how she responds to treatment. I stay in my lane and let our strength and conditioning staff… do what they do best..They took her down yesterday for the MRI, I’m not exactly sure (when she reported the injury). I didn’t hear about until I heard about it from the training staff last night,” White said.
