Lexie Hull isn’t just stepping into the 2025 WNBA season with the swagger of a rising star—she’s stepping in with a championship ring on her finger and an engagement ring off the court. After leading Rose BC to a thrilling 62-54 win over Vinyl BC in the inaugural Unrivaled Basketball League championship, Hull wasn’t just celebrating her victory—she was soaking in every moment, shouting to the world: “Winning is fun!!” But hold up—there’s more to this story.
Just when the confetti was starting to settle, Lexie dropped a bombshell engagement announcement. A sweet, candid photo with her longtime boyfriend, Will Matthiessen, flashing the ring and tagging their love story in a way that got the entire internet buzzing.
From Stanford to now, the couple has been inseparable. Fate? Coincidence? In 2024, when asked, on a show called “This or That” Lexie had one clear answer: fate. And fate, as it turns out, had her linking up with a former Pittsburgh Pirates player. Both from a sports background, and both students of Management Science and Engineering, only a year apart.

Having met while pursuing their Bachelor’s, Lexie and Matthiessen are due to celebrate their 5 years of togetherness in the coming month. They will now be welcoming the milestone with a new status. Better yet, looking forward to giving a new date a whole new meaning.
Though Matthiessen’s MLB career was cut short due to injuries, he’s been her rock—always cheering her on from the sidelines. And after buying their first home together last December 14, 2024, it was only a matter of time before he put a ring on it.
And just like that, the question was popped, and Lexie’s answer was a resounding “yes!” With their love story stronger than ever, the 26-year-old Matthiessen, who once shone as a top recruit for Oregon, is now the supportive partner of the defensive powerhouse of the Indiana Fever.

Lexie Hull’s season of rings and Unrivaled glory
The 2025 season marks a turning point for the Indiana Fever guard, who has already proven to be a key contributor alongside the legendary Caitlin Clark. But it wasn’t just the Fever where Hull made her mark; she also played an instrumental role in Rose BC’s victory in the Unrivaled 3×3 league championship in March, securing yet another title. Last season with the Fever, she averaged 19.7 minutes per game and put up 5.5 points per game while shooting a remarkable 47.1% from beyond the arc, the best on the team. Her success, she credits, is partly due to playing alongside a point guard of Clark’s caliber. “It’s just keeping my hands ready. Keep cutting, keep running the floor,” Hull says. “I think that’s what’s so great about playing with really great point guards — you do the hard work and they make the shots easy.” And easy shots have certainly been part of Hull’s journey to becoming a household name.

Take January 25, 2025, for example — Hull dropped a whopping 19 points against the Mist in unrivaled , shooting an impressive 72.7% from the field (8-11). She also added 3 rebounds and 3 assists, proving her efficiency and scoring versatility.

Then, in late February, against the Phantom, she continued to shine with 13 points, 5 rebounds, and 5 assists, contributing heavily both offensively and defensively. Her well-rounded performance on March 3, 2025, where she put up 10 points, 3 rebounds, and 2 assists in a tightly contested game against the Laces, further cemented her role as a crucial player for the Fever.
