Angel Reese’s teammate Jordin Canada delivered one of the most complete performances of the night in Atlanta’s win over Indiana, and Kelsey Plum made sure it did not go unnoticed. But for Plum, brilliant performances like this, especially on the defensive side of the game, are nothing new from Canada. The only issue is that they often go quite unnoticed.

In fact, Plum described Canada as one of the best defensive guards in the league while speaking on the Sports on Prime postgame show, a clip of which was shared by Underdog WNBA on X.
“Jordin [Canada] is one of the best defensive guards in this league. I don’t think she gets enough credit for what she does,” Plum said on the show after the Fever-Dream game. “And even when it doesn’t show in the stat sheet how disruptive she is, she takes away a lot of space. I think obviously Kelsey Mitchell is an incredible player and had an incredible game. Jordin makes those shots tough for her.
“And I think that Jordin’s one of those players it wears on you. She’s there from the first quarter to the fourth quarter, and she’s just always there, consistent. I mean, her team needed her in this moment, and I thought she was huge.”
And of course, the stats did support everything Plum was saying. While Jordin Canada might not grab headlines like some of her other teammates, like Angel Reese, who contributed 21 points and 11 rebounds in the Dream-Fever game on Thursday night, she still played a very important role in that game.
Canada ended the game with 18 points, two rebounds, five assists, and four steals to help the Dream defeat the Fever 108-101. Those four steals say a lot about the defensive disruption that Plum was talking about. They took Canada’s total steals to 30 this season.
The Atlanta Dream are now on a 10-4 record this season. And Canada has definitely been a part of that success, even if her impact has not always been as loud or as headline-grabbing as some of the other stars like Angel Reese on the roster.
Angel Reese highlights bench impact in Dream’s collective win over Fever
Several notable performances can be linked to the Atlanta Dream’s victory over the Indiana Fever on Thursday night. Angel Reese herself scored a team-high 21 points. Jordin Canada added 18, Rhyne Howard with 16, Allisha Gray as well as Naz Hillmon with 17 points each.
For Angel Reese, however, the victory was actually a collective team effort, with the bench also having quite an impact.
“We all collectively did a great job, especially coming from the bench,” Angel Reese said, speaking at the postgame press conference. “It was just a collective win. Everybody just came in and did their job, and we were able to close this one out tonight.”
Her emphasis was mostly on the bench players, who she believes usually do not get enough credit. Hopefully, they will prove useful once again, as they will be playing the same team, the Indiana Fever, again in their immediate next game.
The Indiana Fever will definitely be looking for revenge. Hopefully, with another collective effort, Atlanta can stand its ground.
