It’s been a rough couple of weeks for the Indiana Fever. With Caitlin Clark sidelined due to a left quadriceps injury, the team has dropped both games in her absence. And just when things couldn’t seem worse, their point guard rotation took a major blow. Both Sydney Colson and Sophie Cunningham went down with contact injuries in the clash against the Connecticut Sun. At the time, coach Stephanie White had no updates to offer. But thankfully for Fever fans, there’s finally some news on that front! But it might not be all that positive!
In the 83-85 loss to the Connecticut Sun, both Sydney Colson and Sophie Cunningham were injured battling Sun guard Jacy Sheldon. The incident sparked controversy over the WNBA’s ability to protect its athletes, leaving fans anxious for updates as in the W, games come thick and fast. While Coach White hadn’t provided any news, a national reporter has finally shared some updates.
According to Scott Agness, Sydney Colson was spotted on a stationary bike during today’s practice session. However, there was no sign of either Caitlin Clark or Sophie Cunningham. This is definitely bad news for Fever fans, especially with their next game against the Mystics just two days away on June 3rd.

However, the reporter did provide a further update, noting that Clark was spotted at practice. This is definitely a big development for fans, as she was seen observing her teammates during their shooting drills. There was even more good news as Chloe Peterson shared a video showing Caitlin Clark rebounding during practice. Off to the side, Damiris Dantas and Sydney Colson could be seen offering words of encouragement as the Fever wrapped up their drills.

With Sydney Colson and Sophie Cunningham both out injured alongside Caitlin Clark, the Fever will likely become eligible to add a player under an emergency hardship contract. What’s your perspective on:
Can the Indiana Fever survive without Caitlin Clark and Sophie Cunningham on the court?
Have an interesting take?
“I think best player available at that position who can add value on both sides of the floor. Certainly, we need to have someone who can add value on the defensive end, we’ve gotta have somebody who can navigate and help us get into offense, handle the ball.” White said to the media.
It’s clear that a new face will be joining the Fever soon, given their current injury situation. Who that player will be remains to be seen. The team has already dropped three straight games, and Coach White will be eager to turn things around. Can she shift the momentum without Caitlin Clark in the lineup? Only time will tell!
