As another generational talent stepped into the pros this year, the fans could not help but watch her step up, game after game, even when her own team failed her. Often compared with Caitlin Clark, Paige Bueckers is in a league of her own. And this was clearly cemented after an explosive 44-points to save the dying Dallas Wings. While head coach Chris Koclanes and the locker room were no match for the rookie, her grit and resilience continued winning hearts.

As the offensive engine for the roster, Bueckers has been a versatile guard for the Wings. She even stepped into leadership roles in the absence of Arike Ogunbowale, clearly dictating the veterans and directing the flow in the paint. While her 35-point comeback after being out due to a concussion and injury took the arena by surprise, her massive jaw-dropping points were a numbing feat in the Commissioner’s Cup match vs the Phoenix Mercury.

No wonder the franchise came forward to honor the rookie! The official Dallas Wings account took to X (former Twitter) and dropped a picture of a Texas Ranger jersey with a caption that read, “PBxRangers. We love supporting our Texas neighbors!” The merchandise update comes after Bueckers clinched an extraordinary record against the Los Angeles Sparks.

The dream cross-sports collaboration between the Dallas Wings and the MLB team is enough to send the fans into a frenzy! The Texas Rangers were purchased for $593 million in 2010. Currently owned by Ray Davis, the MLB team also operates from Arlington and boasts a team value worth $2.45 billion as of 2025.

Moreover, the latest decision comes after Bueckers was spotted in a customised Rangers jersey with her name, “Bueckers” and number 5 on the back. She wore the outfit during a ceremonial first pitch for the Rangers in June this year. This moment marked a monumental rise in the popularity of the athlete across both sports.

Having said that, the recent merchandise will not only highlight Bueckers as a public figure but also elevate her personal branding. It will further showcase the growing reach of women’s basketball across the country. While Dallas Wings’ 2025 journey comes to an end, Paige Bueckers has already etched the season in the history books.

Paige Bueckers creates history despite 81-80 loss

Paige Bueckers wrote history after achieving a remarkable 44-point feat against the Los Angeles Sparks. She strived on the court despite an injury-ridden roster before succumbing to a one-point deficit on Wednesday. The Wings needed at least one win to stay afloat in the playoff contention.

While still in her rookie season, Bueckers showcased high IQ, excellent reads, and quick thinking to propel the Wings till the end of the game. After all, facing veterans Kelsey Plum & Co. isn’t easy for a rebuilding roster. Despite all odds against the athlete, she put up a tough front and single-handedly rallied the Wings.

The result? Paige Bueckers became the first WNBA player in history to score a 40-point game while shooting 80% from the field. She even tied scores with Cynthia Cooper. The WNBA veteran added 44 points in a game during the league’s inaugural season in 1997. Having said that, Bueckers completed the feat in just 28 games.

As the Dallas Wings join the Chicago Sky and Connecticut Sun, it will be exciting to watch the other teams as they try to secure a spot in the playoffs. With Minnesota Lynx already in a comfortable spot, can the Indiana Fever climb out of their miseries and injuries to secure a spot in the top 8? Guess we’ll have to find out!
