The Indiana Fever just wiped the floor with the Chicago Sky. With their top scorer and rebounder, Angel Reese, out of the mix, it looks like all Sky players have lost their will to play. It was evident from the score sheet, as only two Sky players managed to get points in double figures.

On the other hand, Fever spared them no excuse and dropped buckets left and right. Lexie Hull, Sophie Cunningham, and Aliyah Boston all put 10+ points on the board. But there was one player who continued her rampage. Fever guard Kelsey Mitchell dropped a whopping 26 points, 8 assists, and 3 rebounds stint against the Sky. Her impact was so strong that even Sky players sang praises for her.

During the post-game conference, Sky guard Rebecca Allen claimed Mitchell cannot be guarded by one person. “I think it’s never one person’s job, and that’s what we spoke about when you’re guarding Kelsey. She’s so fast that it’s not just you on an island when you’re defending her,” said Angel Reese’s teammate.

Furthermore, Allen felt the defense of her team crumbling around Mitchell in the absence of Reese. The Sky player explained how the Fever guard was drawing people towards her and then passing it to her shooting teammates. And if Sky wanted to guard man-to-man, Mitchell burst into a quick unguardable drive to the bucket.

“I think that’s something where we went wrong,” Allen said after the game. “Sometimes when you’re the nail help, you need to be across more and help. But I mean, Indiana’s doing such a good job of spacing the floor with their shooters, their pace, and their cutting that sometimes we did one action, we defended it well, but then the second one we weren’t locked into. So I think that that was sometimes our fault.” While Mitchell continues her rampant streak of dismantling teams, she even inspired her teammates to step up.

Fever teammate reveals how Kelsey Mitchell helped them score on Angel Reese’s team

With Chicago Sky putting up a weak fight, every Fever player jumped to better their stats. On of them was Lexie Hull, who drew her first double-digit score this season. With multiple teammates injured, Hull started the game against Chicago. And what a performance Lexie gave. The one-third of the Tres Leches scored 17 points with 5-9 field goal shooting and 4-6 shooting beyond the arc.

The real kicker from her was a late three she scored. And Hull gives Mitchell credit for that. “I saw the clock going down, so I was trying to pull out my inner Kelsey Mitchell,” she revealed with a laugh. To give her the flowers she deserves, this performance from Hull will be a boost for her the rest of the season. She has been going though a rough patch and performances like this lift you up.

Unfortunately for Angel Reese’s team, the season seems to be done and dusted now. They are 8-23 this season with a .258 win percentage. Coupled with the fact Chi-town Barbie, who is the anchor of the team, is missing due to back injury. With the season almost over, Sky will be looking at what went wrong this season and work on it for the next one.
