Locker room culture might just make your season, or spin your career. We have seen Stephanie White laud the Indiana Fever chemistry in their resilient season, and we have seen players left unsigned despite an impactful campaign. So when Angel Reese’s comments on her team surfaced, you could guess not every player was thrilled. While the Chicago Sky have been cautioned to watch the impact play out, the 23-year-old forward has also had a few disagreeing with her means.

Here’s the promise that Post Moves with Candace Parker & Aliyah Boston made upon its July 30th debut: “Moves brings bold takes, real talk, and plenty of laughs to the world of basketball and beyond.” Nothing excites fans more than that. It’s the norm in sports media; they talk about the hottest thing on the market, and when it explodes, they become the next hot thing in the market. But it looks like Parker and Boston may have taken that “nothing’s off limits” tagline a little too literally.
Because what Candace Parker just teased about the WNBA’s hottest storyline (the Chicago Sky vs. Angel Reese saga) might have fans ready to boo her instead of crown her the next big media star. You already know the backdrop. “Not settling for the same s— we did this year,” Reese had said, calling on the franchise to go get great players. Fans loved it. To them, it was a young star demanding excellence, refusing mediocrity, stepping up as the leader Chicago needs.

But upstairs in management? Their vibes weren’t nearly as warm. The Sky suspended Reese for the first half against Las Vegas, citing “statements detrimental to the team.” And here’s the twist: After Sophie Cunningham admitted that locker room issues should be limited to just that, Candace Parker might be siding with the franchise, too.
The conversation started when Parker recalled a moment from her Sparks days: after a tough loss, her family took to social media, insisting she should’ve had the ball instead of a teammate who missed the final shot. At the time, Parker admitted she couldn’t see why her teammate (or even the Sparks) would be upset. But with perspective and maturity, she came to understand. “Your family becomes a mouthpiece for you,” she reflected. “And in public, in front-facing spaces, you’ve got to protect your team and your organization – no matter how you really feel.”

Reese’s remarks weren’t empty. Missing two consecutive playoffs and floating at the bottom of the table called for someone to speak up. The league players have themselves voted the Sky as the worst run franchise. But what Parker, Cunningham, and the likes ask for, is to discuss the matters internally. That’s the tribe you run the hard path of a failing season with. So Parker did not hesitate to add on to her comments.
“The best advice that I ever received was to keep things in house. You can yell, scream, cuss, do all those things in between these walls, but you can’t bring it out. And once that happens, it’s hard to gain that trust back… I think Angel taking the steps of apologizing publicly is huge. But I also feel like there is a little bit of a need, even more so, for the understanding of how sacred the locker room is.”
The 3x champion dropped just enough of that take in the teaser for Post Moves episode 7 to set Reese fans on fire. That short clip was all it took for social media to explode, with Reese loyalists firing shots at Parker. Here’s what happened-
Fans Torch Candace Parker Over Angel Reese Take
Candace Parker has never been afraid to speak her mind, but what she added on the podcast feels like she lit a match and tossed it straight into Angel Reese’s fanbase. Whether Parker intentionally masked who she was talking about or not, fans took it personally. One user put it bluntly: “The only time her podcast gets talked about 😂😂😂😂😂.” And someone else accused, “These ones using AR5 name for views.”
If that’s true, then Parker may have played herself. Because the knives came out. “I know why you mad – cuz she breaking all your records and you washed up,” one fan fired off. That wasn’t just empty talk either. Angel Reese has already surpassed Parker for fastest double-doubles.
Others, though, saw the “salt” differently, they suggested it was not about records, but about loyalty. Parker has always praised Sky coach Tyler Marsh, calling him “the silent assassin… a basketball junkie.” She worked with him in 2023, her last Sky season before joining the Aces, and fans think that’s why she’s siding with management now. “Candace said multiple times she supports Tyler. Why are you surprised she throws Angel under the bus? She’s saving her friend’s job.”
Moreover, the Sparks icon hasn’t always been on the right side of Reese’s fans. Earlier this year, while ranking the WNBA players, she had placed the former LSU star in C tier. The reason? Parker believed that while Reese was a great offensive rebounder, she needed to be a more efficient and be able to carry her team. That prompted comments like, “Candace has always been a hater,” today.
Now since then, Angel Reese has already proven herself against every doubter, including her own GM Jeff Pagliocca. Back when the Sky started 2-6, Pagliocca told media: “She’s our best chance at versatility… we need more out of her.” But when Angel Reese flipped the script with her remarks, the Sky simply suspended her. Fans weren’t ready to applaud that.
“Closed mouths don’t get fed. Angel had every right to speak up. If her GM can go public saying he needs ‘more’ out of her, she can talk about the trash players he signed. Fair game.”
Then came the receipts. “Candace Parker literally told us she had to share a locker when she was on the Sky. We ain’t know until YOU said it. Kah (Copper) told us they don’t feed them meals. Sloot left for NY cuz they played in her face too. Like stop all this ‘keep it in house.’ 😂”

It’s been no secret that the Sky’s facilities haven’t been particularly appealing. Previously, Kahleah Copper had hinted at how she could focus on her game better after asking for a trade from the franchise. Parker herself had rejoiced at the thought of having her own locker room after moving to the Aces. So fans don’t believe it is right to criticize Reese for speaking the truth while many before her have done the same. Still, not everyone was ready to bury Parker.
Some pushed back on the pile-on: “The comments are so weird. Are people not allowed to have their opinion on the Angel/Sky situation? Why does ‘unapologetic’ AR get treated with baby gloves when she talks herself into these situations?” So what do you think? There might be polarizing views on the situation, but this has officially turned Post Moves into the hottest pod in the WNBA.
