The WNBA is all set to get back to business after the FIBA World Cup break, but Caitlin Clark and Adidas found some time for a little sneaker banter.

The Fever recently shared photos from their practice session ahead of their first game following the World Cup break, and several players were spotted wearing Clark’s signature Nike Caitlin 1s. That caught the Fever guard’s attention, prompting her to jump into the comments with a simple reaction.
“Dang shoes r lookin fire,” she wrote.
But the post had another sneaker story waiting in the next slide. One of the photos showed Caitlin Clark hugging rookie Raven Johnson, who was wearing Anthony Edwards’ Adidas AE 3 from the Minnesota Timberwolves star’s signature line. That prompted Adidas to reply to Clark’s comments with its own pitch.
“Thanks, they drop Friday 💕,” the shoe company wrote.
However, the Indiana star was not exactly sold on the timing.
“I’m busy Friday, sorry! Super free Oct 1 tho hope you are too!” she replied.
This cheeky exchange did not go unnoticed. B/R W Sports highlighted the interaction on social media, and WNBA legend Candace Parker appeared to enjoy the banter as she left a like on the post.
Now, there is a reason Caitlin Clark is unavailable on the 18th. Adidas is releasing the Anthony Edwards 3 “Cold Blooded” that day for $130, but the Fever are also scheduled to play against the Toronto Tempo.
October 1, meanwhile, is a date Clark has already marked on her calendar. That is when the Indiana Fever guard’s first signature basketball shoe, the Nike Caitlin 1, officially hits the shelves.
The Caitlin 1 has been more than a year in the making, with Nike building the shoe around the way the Fever star plays. The design focuses on quick movement, sharp changes of direction, and the ability to create space for her signature step-back.
It also carries several personal touches, including Clark’s initials, jersey number, and her signature. The Fever guard previously made it clear that she wanted her first signature model to feel like her own rather than simply becoming another version of the Kobe Bryant shoes she regularly wore before landing her Nike deal.
The shoes also feature Air Zoom Turbo cushioning in the forefoot and Cushlon foam through the midsole.
The timing of the launch also gives Caitlin Clark plenty to look forward to. Nike is preparing multiple Caitlin 1 colorways, with six versions scheduled to arrive between October and December.
The first two, “Warning Code” and “Caitlin Blue,” are set to release on October 1. “Midnight Fever” follows on October 14, while “Cave Stone” arrives November 3. “Ice Cold” is scheduled for November 24, with “Purple Venom” closing out the current lineup on December 12.
The adult Caitlin 1 will retail for $140 in North America, with big kids’ and little kids’ versions priced at $100 and $90, respectively.
But for now, her main focus will be the four games still left to play. Before the launch of her shoes, Caitlin Clark will look to help her team finish the regular season on a high note.
In less than 24 hours, they are scheduled to face the Toronto Tempo, followed by a game against the Washington Mystics before closing the regular season with two games against the Minnesota Lynx. The Fever have already clinched their berth in the playoffs, and they currently sit 5th in the WNBA standings.
