Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever have officially crashed out of the first round at the hands of the Las Vegas Aces. But the series generated perhaps the most storylines, while both teams decided the series in three games. A’ja Wilson’s altercation with a courtside fan became one of the most viral moments from the series, and it seems like Clark’s rookie teammate, Raven Johnson, has realized that she had acted impulsively.

“I sincerely apologize for the comments I made during the video with MHA. What I said was wrong, and I take full responsibility for my words,” Johnson wrote on X.

The comment in question came on Wednesday during an interview featuring Myisha Hines-Allen and Johnson.

“Everybody, the media, the people want to know what started that, whatever happened last game,” Johnson asked Hines-Allen during the interview.

Hines-Allen responded, saying she thrives on chaos and tries to win the mental game against her opponents.

“You know I live for chaos. It’s something I do. Okay. And you know I do that too, right? It ain’t like it was out of the ordinary. Right. You know, I’m just a rage baiter, that’s all I am,”

Johnson responded, saying, “Yeah, and you do it with such a smile on your face. Like, always smiling.”

However, Johnson didn’t just apologize to Wilson in her post, but also expressed how much she respects the Aces star, with whom she shares her alma mater.

“I have nothing but love and respect for my big sister 4 life A’ja, and I truly wish her nothing but the best.”

The incident that MHA and Johnson referenced happened in Game 2, where Wilson lost her cool against an Indiana Fever fan.

During a play in the fourth quarter, Sophie Cunningham was called for a foul as she fell to the floor while defending Wilson. While the Aces star was walking away, she walked towards a fan who had left his seat and was trash-talking Wilson with his finger pointed at her. As the altercation escalated between the reigning MVP and the fan, teammates and officials had to intervene.

“If I’m just walking because I got the foul and I’m just chilling, and if I see a man come at me, taking steps toward me, pointing at me, I don’t give a da** what you said. I don’t give a damn how you said it; the tone, that is unacceptable. You don’t step towards me. You never point at me. That’s unacceptable. I’m not for that s*** at all,” Wilson told reporters after the game.

While A’ja Wilson has not reacted to Johnson’s post, she received a message from her Gamecocks coach, Dawn Staley.

“Ray Ray I love you for life.  You are a young talent that’s owning this moment. You did something in public and decided to apologize in public no matter who agrees or disagrees. Always remember your @GamecockWBB sisters will have love for you!” Staley wrote on X.

While Wilson and Raven Johnson haven’t played with each other, the South Carolina Gamecocks unite them. Wilson played for the Gamecocks from 2014-18. The 2017 NCAA champion is the program’s most decorated star and has a statue outside the Colonial Life Arena at the University of South Carolina.

Johnson was part of the Gamecocks from 2021 to 2026. The Indiana Fever selected her 10th overall in the 2026 WNBA draft. She won two NCAA titles with the Gamecocks, and she is also the reigning SEC Defensive Player of the Year.

They might be separated by time, but Gamecocks unite them. The Fever rookie and the Aces star are both students of Dawn Staley, and it seems like their former teacher might be the bridge between them.
