When we talk about Caitlin Clark, we talk about almost a billion dollars. From getting kicked out of PE class to becoming the face of the biggest women’s basketball league in the world, she sure has come a long way! The Golden Goose, they call her. A herald of change even, and we can see why. The logo threes. The flashy passes. They have told enough tales. Now Boston seems to be adding a new one.

The season hasn’t exactly been a fortunate one on the hardwood for Caitlin Clark. The Fever guard has been dealing with a plethora of injuries. Her quad and groin issues kept her out of action for almost a dozen games, and it seems like she might even miss the All-Star Weekend after the injury she incurred playing the Connecticut Sun on Tuesday night. The shooting numbers have dipped, the hopes have wavered, but the fan support is still at an all-time high.

When the Fever said, “our road games sound like home games, because our fans don’t ask for permission to dominate,” the fans did hear it loud and clear. And the Tuesday’s game in Boston was clear evidence of that.

A sold-out TD Garden, with over 19,000 fans, and hundreds of placards reading something along the lines of “We love you Caitlin!”, was rooting for Indiana as opposed to the closer to home Connecticut team. And honestly? This has been going on since her college days.

Way back when CC wore the yellow, black, and white Hawkeyes jersey, her away games broke records! An interesting fact is that host schools saw over 150% attendance spikes whenever Iowa came to town, and that’s saying something about Caitlin. We’re used to seeing seas of number 22 jerseys. Indiana averages over 10,000 fans in attendance every game, and most of their games are completely sold out.

It’s pretty simple–Caitlin Clark is the people’s champion. Everyone wants to see her play, and almost everyone wants to see her succeed. So when she got injured again last night, groans and gasps filled the TD Garden. But what exactly happened to the Indiana Fever star? And will she be taking the court for All-Star? Let’s find out!

Caitlin Clark’s injury woes continue as Indiana is forced to make do without their star

This season hasn’t been great for Caitlin Clark. Statistically, it hasn’t been that bad aside from a minor shooting slump. But stats don’t matter when she’s sitting out on the bench, injured. The six-foot-tall point guard has gone through two injuries–one to her quad, and one to her groin. And just when we thought everything was alright, an issue popped up again.

Tuesday night, while facing the Connecticut Sun in the TD Garden, Caitlin Clark clutched her right leg, indicating a groin injury. “No update. Just felt a little something in her groin, so we’ll get it evaluated and see what happens from there,” Stephanie White had said right after the victory against Connecticut. However, the evaluation ended up spelling trouble for the Fever.

After initially listing Clark as ‘questionable’ for Wednesday’s matchup against the Liberty, the Indiana Fever star was ruled out due to her right quad issue. The timing of this injury couldn’t be worse with the All-Star Weekend festivities on the brink. This weekend is supposed to be gigantic, but we all know it won’t be the same if CC isn’t gonna play. If you ask Stephanie White, she is keeping it uncertain: “There’s been no discussion yet about this weekend. There was imaging done, but there hasn’t been any discussion beyond tonight.”

Injuries have been this WNBA season’s mortal enemy. We’ve seen stars like Caitlin Clark and A’ja Wilson spend some time away from the court. And by Wednesday night, it has been Rhyne Howard and Satou Sabally pulling away from ASW while Jackie Young stepped out during the game against the Wings. Will we get more replacements? Only time will tell.
