Angel Reese may currently be in Berlin, focusing on Team USA’s FIBA Women’s World Cup campaign, but back home in Atlanta, the Atlanta Dream are making sure nobody forgets what she’s been doing during the WNBA season. With the playoffs just four games away, Atlanta put together a lengthy statistical case for Reese on an Instagram post, which caught the attention of Reese’s boyfriend, NBA player Wendell Carter Jr., who didn’t need a lengthy message. Instead, the Orlando Magic center dropped a silent endorsement for his partner.

“😮💨,” he posted in the comments, showing how impressed he was with the stats.
The post the Dream made in support of Reese is noteworthy because it listed nearly every major statistic from Reese’s season. They highlighted some of her achievements in the caption of the post as well, while urging fans to vote for her.
“Follow the numbers, find your DPOY, All-WNBA, and All-Defense forward,” the caption read. “First in total rebounds, rebounds per game, offensive rebounds, defensive rebounds, third in steals, and top five in defensive rating. And she’s still going. Tell a friend to tell a friend: Angel Reese is like that 🅰️.”
On offense, in addition to averaging 16.1 points per game and shooting 43.7% from the field, Reese also leads the league in offensive rebounds with 198, the most in a single season in WNBA history. However, where Reese really makes her mark is on defense, where she has turned into a statistical monster.
Right now, Reese leads the league in defensive rebounds with 287, also the most in a season in league history. She also sits fifth in the league in defensive rating with 101.6, while averaging 1.8 steals per game, the 3rd-highest mark in the league.
Reese has also made history as a rebounder this season on multiple fronts. She broke the single-game rebounding record by grabbing 26 boards, beating the previous record of 24 set in 2003 by Chamique Holdsclaw. She also broke the record for most rebounds in a single season, currently sitting at 485, beating A’Ja Wilson’s previous total of 451 from 2024.
Reese also broke the WNBA’s single-season double-double record, beating Alyssa Thomas’s previous record of 28 in a season in 2023. Reese currently sits at 29.
Her defensive impact has carried over to the international stage as well. As Team USA continues its unblemished campaign in Berlin, Reese has quickly been recognized as perhaps the team’s best defender. She leads the fan polling for Best Defensive Player for the tournament with 57% of the votes, over 28,000 votes, per the official FIBA website.
Head coach Kara Lawson even highlighted her effort after Team USA’s 55-52 win over Italy, a night when she was harshly critical of the entire team’s play.
“She comes into the game, and she plays with great energy,” Lawson said in the post-game press conference. “And she competes, she scores, she rebounds, she plays with great pace. It’s what you want in a player, in a young player, to come in and do that. And so that’s what I appreciate more about her. She finds a way to make an impact.”
When it comes to her relationship with Carter, the pair have been publicly dating since late 2025. During an appearance on Run It Back on November 17, 2025, Carter was asked about his relationship with Reese.
“That’s the homie for sure,” Carter said back then. “We locked in. Y’all gonna find out when y’all need to find out. We’ll just leave it at that. That’s my girl, though. We locked in for sure.”
Angel Reese’s season has given both Carter and the Dream a lot to celebrate, and now, with the season close to resuming and the playoffs following, only time will tell how Reese fares for the rest of this year. For now, Reese and Team USA will be facing Team France in the finals of the 2026 FIBA World Cup on Sunday, as all eyes will be trained on the game.
