Chicago’s back-to-back wins over Dallas, 97 and 94 points, should have been pure celebration. Instead, the Sky are drowning in backlash over Roy Gulbeyan’s officiating. No-calls piled up today, and on Thursday, DiJonai Carrington got security called on her for postgame questions. Undoubtedly, the Sky did their job well, but the league’s glaring inconsistency is stealing the spotlight. However, even amidst the chaos, Angel Reese isn’t shying away from celebrating. This one’s for the old bonds.
It was a good day for the Chi-Town Barbie. After a minor setback last game, going 2-of-6 for 6 points and 9 rebounds, Reese showed up for 14 points and 9 rebounds, helping the Sky record a second consecutive win. And going by her post, maybe the good fortune began even before the game.
“thanks for my pregame taco. [and a few adorable emojis],” the Chicago Sky forward shared on X with a clip of her embracing the Dallas Wings’ assistant coach Nola Henry. Enemy territory? Well, on the WNBA hardwood, yes. But these two go way beyond that.

Henry was Rose BC’s head coach in the Unrivaled’s inaugural season. Angel Reese dropped the league’s first 20/20 performance, won the Defensive Player of the Year award, made the All-Unrivaled Second team, and claimed the championship title under her 1st year tenure. But the dynamic went both ways to make that possible.
“It’s been such a pleasure to coach her. She comes in with the same mindset, the same mentality every day,” Henry had expressed. “You know what you’re gonna get from her. You’re gonna get a competitor, you’re gonna get somebody that’s fun, that’s gonna lighten the group up through competing.” The mutual respect sure hasn’t faded. The two shared a title there and seemingly, a taco here. Something else that hasn’t changed? Angel Reese being a fierce competitor to deliver wow moments.

Angel Reese wows spectators in unfamiliar territory
After an eventful off-season, Angel Reese is back to being the rebounding queen she presented to be last season. Just one game in, she became the quickest player to record 450 points and 450 rebounds. That soon moved up to 500 mark. Needless to say, she’s leading the league in the category, averaging 13 per game. So we wouldn’t bat an eye if she made social media rounds with a rebound again. But, the Chi-Town Barbie had more in store this time around.
In Saturday’s Sky-Wings matchup, she delivered a highlight-reel dime that had the league itself hitting the rewind button. Early in the first quarter, Reese caught the ball at the high post. She sliced through Dallas’ defense like a veteran point guard, and went between two defenders to hit Elizabeth Williams for an easy bucket. The WNBA’s official social media account couldn’t resist spotlighting the play and posting the clip.
“What a dime by Angel Reese 🤯. She attacks the rim and dumps it off to Elizabeth Williams for the finish!” the caption read. The pass was a snapshot of Reese’s evolving game. Her court vision proves that she is more than just a dominant rebounder.

Through the past five games, Reese has been stuffing the stat sheet. She is averaging 9.2 points and a league-leading 13.0 rebounds per contest. But it’s her improved playmaking (2.8 assists) and defensive activity (1.6 steals) that are turning heads this season.
Her five assists in Saturday’s 94-83 win over Dallas, along with six points and nine boards, showcased her growing impact. With the Sky now rolling into Commissioner’s Cup play, Angel Reese’s versatility could be the X-factor that Chicago needs as it is gearing up for a high-stakes June 7 showdown against the Fever, looking to bounce back after injuries took over for a minute. For now, though, the WNBA is still buzzing about that pass.
