Angel Reese is having a season to remember, and she is anything but shy about her achievements, as her recent post proves. The Dream forward has now surpassed two WNBA records in one night. As the Dream fought to keep its fourth-place standing in the league rankings, Reese’s latest milestone elicited a proud response from Reese on X.

Angel Reese’s post on X came as she broke the WNBA record for most rebounds in a single game in the game against the Los Angeles Sparks. As Atlanta extended their winning streak to four games, Reese put up 26 rebounds across the 38 minutes that she played on Monday. The previous record was held by Chamique Holdsclaw, who grabbed 24 rebounds in a game back in 2003.
She also broke the record for most rebounds in a single season the same night, with 458 total rebounds, surpassing A’ja Wilson’s record of 451 rebounds that she set back in 2024. Reese finished the night with 11 points and recorded her 27th double-double of the season.
Reese reflected on her mindset after the game, as she surpassed both Holdsclaw and the reigning WNBA MVP, Wilson.
“Anything that goes up is mine,” Reese said on Monday in conversation with WNBA legend Tina Charles after the game. “You just gotta have that mindset. Even when I watch you, and I play against you, you go up there, and you’re so aggressive, and you’re consistent every single night, and that makes you one of the greatest players in this league, and I want to be one of those when I walk away from the game.”
Reese, speaking at the post-game show, also referred to her shooting during Atlanta’s victory over the Sparks on August 20, another WNBA milestone she reached this week. Reese shot 9-for-9 on field goals and 2-for-2 from beyond the arc that night.
“Last time I was here, I didn’t miss any shots,” Reese added, per Associated Press. “Tonight I couldn’t hit (anything), so I knew I was going to be able to get them on the rebounding side. I just want to be there for my team. Offensively, defensively, whatever it takes to win.”
Teammate Allisha Gray was also full of praise for Reese in her postgame interview.
“I don’t think in my life I’ve got more than 10 rebounds. So that’s just a talent. I’m just in awe just watching her rebound.’
Atlanta are now fourth in the standings with a 25-13 record, and Reese’s recent form has played a big role in it. She is averaging 16.1 points, 12.4 rebounds, and 2.7 assists per game this season, leading the league in rebounds.
However, there is one aspect of her game that was highlighted by the community online in the very same game she set both these records.

While Reese deservedly received applause for her rebounding record, she still sometimes struggles to get on the board. This was reflected in the game against the Sparks on Monday in a play involving elite shot blocker Cameron Brink.
With around 1:42 left in the first quarter, Brink blocked two back-to-back shots from Reese in five seconds. Fans questioned her shooting efficiency—a criticism that has dogged her all season.
Reese is, however, cognizant of this weakness in her game and insists she is working on it with her teammates and coach.
“He (head coach Karl Smesko) works with my shooting every single day,” Reese said after the Sparks game. “Me being able to knock down threes, being consistent in my jump shot, finishing around the basket. And my teammates too, they put in a lot of work. It helped me a lot. They get mad at me when I don’t shoot it. So I just continue to just stay poised and push through everything.”
Reese is the third-best scorer on the Atlanta team, and her shooting efficiency could be critical in the playoffs.
Atlanta would look to finish in the top four, as it would secure home-court advantage in the playoffs. Atlanta is locked in an intense battle with Indiana and New York for the fourth seed, separated by just half a game from the Fever and two games from the Liberty.
Any slip-ups at this point could prove costly, and the Dream would like to extend their winning run to five games as they take on the Portland Fire next on Saturday, August 28.
