The competition between Angel and Julian Reese started on a home basketball court, but it has now reached the sport’s biggest stages and the moment brought the Chicago Sky star to tears. Angel Reese is used to the spotlight, but on Tuesday night, she was just an emotional older sister watching from the sidelines as her brother, Julian, took the court for his second NBA game. When his name appeared on the team’s starting lineup graphic, Angel replied to the post with an emotional emoji, displaying what the moment meant to her. Now at his second game, Reese was spotted courtside, sharing the moment with her brother.

In his debut game against the Rockets, Julian earned a place in the starting lineup. He scored 2 points and 4 rebounds while going 1-3 from the field in 28 minutes of game time. That performance was good enough for Julian to retain his place in the lineup. Going up against the Orlando Magic, he started again, scoring 9 points and grabbing 8 rebounds along with 3 assists.

As her brother lived out his dreams, Reese was spotted getting emotional on the sidelines. Reese, in a Washington Wizards jersey, was seen in tears while sitting courtside. She is the biggest supporter of her brother. When the Wizards confirmed his two-way signing, Angel responded with a heartfelt message, “My baby brother🥺Ugh I’m so proud of you! Your journey has never been easy & you’ve always stayed the course! Let’s go, Juju!” It’s clear this moment means a lot to Angel and her family.

She also expressed the same sentiment during the game. “I’m really happy for him. I mean, I was so emotional when I found out I was crying so hard. Like I just hit the lottery.” She said on the broadcast, “I was just so happy because my mom was able to raise me and my brother. We were able to go to Maryland and play in front of our family, and they had a good treat and I’m happy for DC.”

Before the NBA, Julian Reese was playing with the Raptors 905 in the G League, where he has averaged 8.6 points, 7.8 rebounds, 1.2 assists, 0.8 steals, and 0.8 blocks per game. Even there, Angel Reese attended plenty of her brother’s games. In the past, Angel has credited her competitiveness with her brother for her success. 

“Everything was always competitive with my younger brother,” Angel told What’s Up? in March 2022. “We had a basketball court in front of our house, and it was always very competitive and intense. We played all the time together. It helped shape me into who I am now.” Naturally, her brother going from driveway hoops to the biggest stage is a big moment for the siblings. And yet, this game initially posed a conflict for Reese.

Angel Reese Expresses Relief After Boyfriend Misses Washington Game With Injury

Angel Reese is usually at NBA games to support her boyfriend, Orlando Magic star Wendell Carter Jr. “Goooo poodieeee,” Reese wrote after Carter Jr.’s game winner against the Lakers. This time she was at an Orlando game. But for the first time, it was not to support the Magic but her brother in Washington. Fortunately, she did not have to think twice regarding who to support in this game, as Carter Jr. was out with a sore left ankle. 

“As soon as I heard that he was going to be on the team, I was like, ‘I need a jersey,’ especially if you guys are coming to Orlando. I usually cheer for Orlando, but tonight I’m cheering for DC,” Angel Reese said. “Yeah, luckily, due to an injury, you are not torn between two teams,” answered the reporter. “Not tonight, not tonight.” Reese further said. 

As her brother continues to impress in the NBA, Reese will now head to China. She is slated to be back in action for Team USA at the World Cup qualifiers against Senegal on March 11. She warmed up her engine by returning to Unrivaled for a few games and averaged 13 points in the three games before being knocked out by the Breeze, led by Paige Bueckers.
