A’ja Wilson is now 16 double-doubles from rewriting WNBA history — and she did it on a night that broke the internet. Beyond the history she made on the court as the Las Vegas Aces beat the LA Sparks, Wilson also delivered one of the most talked-about postgame moments of the evening.

Moments after leading the Aces past the Los Angeles Sparks, the reigning MVP was spotted celebrating with Aces owner Mark Davis and Hollywood star Will Ferrell. The video of that interaction was shared by the WNBA itself on its X page, and it has garnered thousands of views since being posted.
The game itself ended in a 79-69 victory for the Las Vegas Aces. Wilson‘s 25 points and 15 rebounds powered the Aces past the Sparks, 79-69, despite a sluggish offensive night. She also contributed one assist, three steals, and five blocks.
More importantly, that double-double was the 94th 20-point double-double of her career, moving her into second place on the WNBA’s all-time list. Only WNBA legend Tina Charles remains ahead of her with 110.
As it turns out, this was not the only all-time list that A’ja Wilson climbed with her performance against the Sparks. Her five blocks moved her career total to 555, passing Indiana Fever legend Tammy Sutton-Brown for 8th place on the all-time blocks leaderboard.
This isn’t the only historic moment A’ja Wilson has had this season. On 15th May, she scored 45 points against the Connecticut Sun. With that performance, she has the most 40+ point games in WNBA history, surpassing the previous record of four by Breanna Stewart and Diana Taurasi.
The Aces (6-3) avenged a May 24 loss to the Sparks, solidifying their 2nd-place standing in the Western Conference. They will face the Golden State Valkyries in their next game and will be hoping to secure another victory.
Becky Hammon Praises Aces Defense but Sees Plenty of Room for Improvement After Sparks Clash
It certainly feels good that the Las Vegas Aces came away with a win against the Los Angeles Sparks. However, Becky Hammon did not particularly like what she saw from her team’s offense. For her, the Aces could have done a little more on that end of the floor despite securing the victory.
While speaking at the postgame press conference, she said: “I did not love our offense at times… I didn’t think, you know, we were at a certain standard that I wanted us at.” Coach Hammon did, however, acknowledge the defensive effort her team put together, with a special appreciation for the role A’ja Wilson played.
“Honestly, I thought I was okay with our defensive effort tonight,” she said. “I actually did like the big guard A’ja at the three lineup. I actually did like that one.”
Altogether, Becky Hammon will still gladly take the win. Even though there is a whole lot she believes the team could have done better, she remains pleased with the result, and the defensive effort they showed in the game was a major positive.
“Happy with the win, but we can do much better, and we got to demand much better,” she concluded. “Happy with that defensive effort tonight… but we still have a lot of ways that we can get better.”
The Aces will probably be looking to score more in their next game against the Golden State Valkyries, a team they have already beaten once this season. Hopefully for them, they can do it again.
