Angel Reese has been embracing an eventful offseason, showcasing her versatility as she struts down fashion runways and cheers at football games. She’s been a constant presence, hosting celebrities on her podcast and diving into a wide array of topics that extend well beyond basketball. However, one area she has publicly refused to address is politics. But as Election Day scheduled on November 5 nears, Reese makes clear that she knows the significance of voting.

As the polls prepare to open bright and early at 5 AM on Tuesday, the Chicago Sky forward decided to use her platform to encourage her fans and fellow Americans to make their voices heard. Taking to her X account, she shared a message urging everyone to step out of their homes and participate in the Presidential election.

The 22-year-old dropped just a two-word clear message which read, “please VOTE.” With a fan base of over 600,000 on her X account, her call to action has the potential to inspire many to seize the opportunity to influence the nation’s future for years to come.

Moreover, she shared a selfie on her Instagram, where she boasts over 4 million followers. The snapshot featured Reese herself, but what truly elevated the post as a voting awareness statement was the sticker she added that read, “I voted.”

While she’s been proactive in encouraging participation in the elections, it’s worth noting that she had previously hesitated to disclose her political views, citing her lack of knowledge on the topic.

Angel Reese had denied expressing her political stance due to lack of knowledge

Athletes have often chosen to voice their opinion regarding politics, but for Angel Reese, the situation has been different. Back in August, during what was likely one of her practice sessions, a reporter asked her for her thoughts on presidential candidate Kamala Harris. Reese’s response was quite guarded, leaving her answer somewhat ambiguous and not directly addressing the question.

“I haven’t been able to tap a lot into the political election… so, I’m not that educated right now, but [I] just continue to learn,” the Chicago Sky forward admitted, revealing she was still a learner when it comes to politics. However, even then she didn’t miss the opportunity to encourage people to vote.“Everybody go out there and vote. I commend that, and I just tell a lot of people to go out there and vote because we need it for this election,” she had said.

Well, Reese isn’t alone in her push for voter awareness—her fierce rival, Caitlin Clark, has been stepping up as well.

“I have this amazing platform, so I think the biggest thing would be to just encourage people to register to vote. Continue to educate yourself on the candidates that we have, the policies that they’re supporting – I think that’s the biggest thing you can do,” shared Clark recently while also pointing to Taylor Swift’s raising awareness as well. It even sparked speculation if Clark is Team Kamala Harris as Swift had earlier endorsed the candidate.

With these rising sports stars and their huge fanbases rallying voters, their influence could truly boost turnout across the state. Polls open at 5 AM on November 5th!
