For WNBA Hall of Famer Sheryl Swoopes, Caitlin Clark is synonymous with trouble. It only amplified when Swoopes shared screenshots of her text messages with Clark. The exchange was merely an attempt to reach out to the rookie star to apologize for an inaccurate statement about the duration of her collegiate career. Days after this incident, Swoopes found herself embroiled in a similar debate.

This time, it was due to her reaction to a prediction made by Sun’s guard. On April 8th, Swoopes came across a reply by Alyssa Thomas, who wrote, “Don’t play with me, nai.” This was in response to a tweet by her teammate DiJonai Carrington, who was one of the first to recognize Clark’s potential. Carrington had predicted on X, “Caitlin Clark might lead the league this year.” Following the series of comments, Swoopes joined the debate and left a laughing emoji.

However, it cost her dearly. It seemed that Clark took note of those who doubted her and responded in her own way. As the saying goes, “Actions speak louder than words.” The 22-year-old Iowa native turned heads by setting a record. On September 13th, Clark recorded an impressive 9 assists during a 78-74 loss to the two-time defending champions, LA.

In the process, Clark ended up leading the league in assists for the regular season. She raised the bar even higher with 321 assists, surpassing Alyssa Thomas along the way. Meanwhile, she declared that the sky is the limit for her. This isn’t the first time Clark has shined with her dimes.
Can Caitlin Clark Avoid Suspension?
During a July 18th game, the Indiana Fever rookie recorded a remarkable 19 assists in a single game against the Dallas Wings. This was just another addition to her long list of historical achievements. However, the standout record isn’t her positive achievements but rather her high number of technical fouls.
In the final and fourth game against the Aces, Clark recorded her seventh technical foul just five minutes into the game. This incident occurred when the 22-year-old Iowa native was given a personal foul and responded by smacking the hoop out of frustration. The referees took note and called a technical foul.
“It’s like, one was a complete accident, and then the other two were just a little frustration with myself. So, I think I could have done a better job keeping my emotions in check, but at the same time, like, really? So, I don’t know,” Clark shared in the post-game conference.
