Can we agree that Dallas Wings guard Arike Ogunbowale has had one of the best runs this season? What’s even more impressive than her performance on the court is her private yet perfect life off the court. From plans to execution, everything seems to be going well for both Ogunbowale and her fiancée, Lana Ronay.

The 2019 No. 5 overall pick by the Wings had always been private about her personal life. But all the barriers shattered with a beautiful beginning to Ogunbowale’s new journey with “the real prize.” It all started on May 19th earlier this year.

Lana Ronay is a star in her own right

First, Ogunbowale delivered an impressive 35 points in 40 minutes of gameplay (nearly one point per minute) against the Chicago Sky. She even contributed five rebounds and three assists to the team’s total. However, despite her excellence on the court, the Wings lost to the Sky. But Arike still went home with “the real prize.

In front of her family and friends, she popped the question to her girlfriend, Lana Ronay. From dropping a 35-piece and then getting on one knee to propose to her love on the same night? Only icons can do that. The WNBA world was filled with love the next morning, with videos of the proposal circulating everywhere. But many were curious—who exactly is Ronay?

With a cute smile and a shocked expression, covering her mouth with her hands as her eyes widened behind glasses, that’s Lana Ronay. She might be unknown to some, but for those who know her, she’s a digital content creator and beauty influencer. From Instagram to TikTok, she’s everywhere, even launching her own custom-made clothing line.

What does a perfect match look like?

In short, it’s an ideal match: a sharpshooter with a deep sense of fashion and a queen of clothing. But that’s not the entire introduction of Ronay. Soon to be Ogunbowale’s official better half, Ronay is also a former military soldier in the American Army. The fame she enjoys now came with significant effort starting in 2021.

Her first video was about her experiences as a soldier in the US Army. However, she switched to the niche that attracted the most attention: fashion. Since then, she has been consistent in covering topics like hair, fitness, lifestyle, and skincare.

Remotely resonating with her military background, her fiance, Ogunbowale, is also a fierce force on the court. Even her teammates share this sentiment. “I’m so blessed to just play with her and be around her every day,” shared Wings’ forward Maddy Siegrist. It was exactly after the Wings’ #24 guard delivered 11 points to hit 3,972 career points, the highest in franchise history.

But this is just a glimpse of her excellence. The real thrill came from her All-Star performance against Team USA, where she was named MVP for the second time. But when the two are set to tie the knot is not known.
