The preseason match-up between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Washington Commanders is in full swing. Chiefs lost their preseason game to the Chicago Bears. Last year, in the second preseason game, the Chiefs’ star QB, Patrick Mahomes, played in the second quarter, four series and 32 snaps. This proves that the game against the Commanders could go smoothly. But is it enough for the leading quarterback to start the game tonight?

Even though he was limited to one series against the Bears, he did not stop to deliver his absolute best. Mahomes led an 11-play, 72-yard drive, completed six out of seven passes for 60 yards, and secured a touchdown. Also, the fact that coaches tend to save their best players so that they are directly in the regular games is high here. Could it be that Patrick Mahomes won’t partake in the match-up tonight?

With Henne out of the picture, it means that the responsibility to become the backup QB for Mahomes falls on Shane Buechele and Dustin Crum.

The Kansas City Chiefs were comfortable letting Henne sit out this one because the team may think he is a treasured player. Thus, minimizing the risk of any injuries. Both the contendents are young. Maybe the team can witness what Buechele and Crum bring to the game as Henne is out.
