McDavid did start showing off his skills in the first period of the game. Dylan Holloway, the Oilers’ center, scored the first goal in the fourth minute with a great assist from McDavid. After the Oilers scored again within the next minute, the intensity of the game skyrocketed. In the ninth minute of the game, the Ducks’ center Sam Carrick scored. Next, the Oilers’ captain had his time in the spotlight, skating gracefully around the ice like he was practicing ballet and scoring a beautiful goal by fooling Ducks’ center Trevor Zegras.

The clip of McDavid’s incredible goal was uploaded to the NHL’s official YouTube channel. “McDavid gives us ballet on ice,” as the video’s title puts it. The goal was too entertaining to miss, especially with its seamless movement and thunderous shot. The sight of Zegras attempting to steal the puck from McDavid caused him to drift on the ice. Eventually, he got far enough away to use his hockey stick to raise the puck into the air, confusing the Ducks’ goalkeeper.

In the end, the Oilers prevailed 6-2 against the Ducks. 76 shots were taken throughout the game, with the Oilers getting off at 53 and the Ducks putting up 23. The Ducks’ attempts to score more than twice were thwarted by the Oilers’ stout defensemen and goaltender.

NHL fans just felt bad for Trevor Zegras

NHL fans swarmed the YouTube video’s comments with messages of sympathy for Ducks’ center Trevor Zegras. Zegras is widely recognized for his defensive capabilities despite playing as a center. No matter what, he couldn’t keep Connor McDavid from making him doubt his own abilities.
