For Brady Tkachuk, the 2025 postseason didn’t exactly pan out the way he would have hoped for. With the Ottawa Senators stumbling 4-2 to the Maple Leafs at the Battle of Ontario in the first round of the playoffs, the younger Tkachuk’s dreams of becoming Stanley Cup champions were nipped in the bud. But he’s not letting his own sadness get in the way of being there for his brother.
“To be honest with you, I’ll be watching from afar…He knows that I’ve always been there every step of the way for him,” the Senators’ captain had said previously about his relentless rallying behind his brother, Matthew. And now, as the Cats hosted the Oilers at the Amerant Bank Arena for Game 6 with the hopes of wrapping things up at home, Tkachuk couldn’t stay away from the action.
Sportsnet took to X on June 17 to highlight how the possible series-deciding game between the Oilers and the Panthers has attracted many celebrities from all walks of life. Captioned, “Got some big names in attendance for Game 6,” the post also shows Brady Tkachuk and his dad, Keith, in the stands as they look ahead to Matthew & Co. retaining the Stanley Cup in Miami.

And the Tkachuk family had a lot to cheer for tonight! With just 46.4 remaining on the clock in the first period, Matthew made the most of a poor turnover by the Oilers’ Evan Bouchard and sent the puck flying into Edmonton’s net. Both Brad and Keith could be seen smiling ear to ear in the stands, as the Cats forward put the hosts forward by 2 with his ferocious goal.

Brady was present in the stands last year when the Panthers won their first Stanley Cup. He even came down onto the ice to celebrate the Cats’ win with the team and his sibling after Florida’s triumphant victory over the Oilers in the Finals in 2024. Previously, too, Brady was spotted several times donning the Panthers’ jersey in the playoffs. And Matthew made sure to thank his brother and their family for their support.
“This is for my family. Finally, the Tkachuk name will be on the Cup. This is for them,” the Panthers’ forward said in an emotional statement after last year’s Cup victory. Maybe that helped Brady to overcome some of his own anguish about missing the playoffs in 2024.
“As a younger brother, he’s the epitome of a role model,” Brady admitted to being mesmerized by Chucky’s accomplishments last year. And this year, while his own playoff run came to an abrupt and early end, it seemed like he wanted to make sure that Matthew’s chances of going two-for-two had all the support it needed.

Brady Tkachuk was the lucky charm the Panthers needed
“It’s going to be a long summer,” the younger Tkachuk brother had said after the Senators were eliminated from the playoffs by in-state rivals, the Toronto Maple Leafs. While it was obvious that Brady was bracing up to cope with the result of his first-ever postseason campaign, Matthew made sure to avenge the Sens’ loss. In the second round of the playoffs, the Leafs collided with the Panthers and were defeated after a thrilling 7-game series. Some respite for the younger Tkachuk? Maybe! But after the end of tonight’s Game 6 between Florida and Edmonton, the Ottawa captain had nothing but smiles.

Sam Reinhart put the Panthers ahead early in the first period after catching the misplaced puck from Mattias Ekholm. Scoring from the goalie’s glove side, the Canadian proved why the Oilers nation was worried about Skinner being named to guard the net tonight. Matthew’s goal brought more relief to the defending champs. But it was Reinhart who was the star of tonight’s showdown.
