Sha’Carri Richardson finishes fourth in her season debut

22-year-old Richardson made her official comeback at the 2022 Duval Country Challenge Puma event. Before this event, she had withdrawn from three races, including the one where she was going to clash with arch-rival Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce.

In her first race for the season, Richardson had a slow start and finished fourth with a time of 11.37 seconds. While Aleia Hobba clinched the 100m race with 11.28 seconds followed by Brittany Brown (11.30 seconds) and Twanisha Terry (11.34).

Although the timings are nowhere close to Richardson’s personal best, the 1.5 headwind and rain delay of multiple hours can also be a factor for a slow start.

Justin Gatlin made a huge reveal on Richardson’s insane abilities

In a recent interview, Justin Gatlin claimed Richardson is insanely clocking 10.3 seconds’ time during her training sessions. Notably, the century-old, women’s 100m world record is held by American legend Florence Griffith Joyner at 10.49 seconds.

If Sha’Carri can produce 10.3 seconds performance in the live event, she can break the untouched world record this year. After Richardson’s season debut, the next thing to look forward to is her clash with Jamaican rivals (Elaine Thompson-Herah and Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce) who have also started their season.
