Allyson Felix has been a sprinter at track and field events for almost two decades. As such, the athlete has amassed quite the medal tally in prominent meets. With 11 Olympics and 19 World Championships medals, she became the most decorated female athlete in track and field history.

However, the athlete could not secure a position in the 400m event at the recent 2022 USATF Outdoor Championships. If she qualified for the event, it could have been Felix?s last individual event at the Worlds.

How did Allyson Felix fare at the recent USATF Outdoor Championships?

Felix will not make it to an individual event at the meet as she could not secure a position in the 400m final event. The star athlete finished sixth with a time of 51.24s.

The athlete was trailing behind her opponents for most of the race. However, she managed to bridge the gap and ascend a couple of places at the last moment to secure the sixth position in the race.

But Felix was not disappointed in her performance. If anything, her performance at the meet validated her decision to retire from the sport. The sprinter is currently competing in what would be the last season of her career.

After the event, Felix said, “More than anything, this season really showed me that I have no doubts about walking away.”

“There?s nothing that I have left to give. This season, for the first time, I felt like I didn?t have that fight in me, and that?s who I am. I knew when I felt that fading away, there was nothing to do but be grateful,” continued the sprinter.

Will fans still see Felix at the upcoming World Championships?

The event saw Talitha Diggs bag gold with a time of 50.22s. Kendall Ellis secured second place with 50.35s while Lynna Irby came in at third, clocking 50.67s.

However, fans of the sport are still expecting to see the five-time Olympian at the relay events of the meet. People are anticipating the sprinter to be on the team as her team won the gold in the mixed relay event in Doha three years back.
