Gabby Thomas has been making quite the waves in the track and field realm. After becoming the face of the Athlos led by Alexis Ohanian, Thomas has been roped in by US track legend Michael Johnson. While Ohanian had been feuding with Johnson for their athlete policies, Thomas had surprisingly come out in support of GST! Now, strengthening the bond further, a recent achievement of Thomas has caught the attention of Johnson once again. However, her track and field honeymoon had commenced back in Paris.
Coming into Paris, Thomas was not quite the favorite to take the tracks in Paris by fire. However, once the events got underway, it was the 28-year-old who reigned supreme. Participating in the 200m, 4x100m, and 4x400m relay, Thomas took gold in all of them. Showing up at the Annual Meeting of the USATF, Thomas detailed how she has been grueling en route to her ascension. She pointed out that as a child, her dreams often made her scared. However, over time and experience, the Olympic gold medalist realized that the potential she had was much better than her initial dreams.
And well, it seems that after all these years, Gabby Thomas has not stopped dreaming. Despite winning the Olympic gold, Thomas is still looking to push herself further. Together with her training partners, Tia Jones and Tamara Clark, Thomas attempted a new workout. She tried running a mile, and guess what? She completed her mile in just 5:43s, taking the big W yet again. Impressed by the outcome, US track legend Michael Johnson stated, “I been there. That’s a different kind of pain!”

For sure, the workout must be tiring for the sprinter. This is because a sprinter is often accustomed to running short distances with rapid bursts of speed. But running a mile requires a lot of cardio along with steady and consistent jogging. While Clark and Jones clocked a timing of 6:10 and 7:18, respectively, Thomas passed with flying colors with the timing of just 5:43. Surely, the pain was visible, as all three athletes could be seen lying flat on their backs, gasping for air after completing their run.
Meanwhile, as Gabby Thomas is looking to take her game to the next level, a recent controversy has brought her to a difficult spot. Commenting on Caitlyn Clark’s recent comments, Thomas landed herself in the middle of a black-and-white controversy.

Gabby Thomas in deep waters after controversial statement
The issue of black athletes not getting enough privilege has been a raging issue for a long time. This was further re-ignited when WNBA phenom Caitlin Clark received the Times Magazine Athlete of the Year award. In her interview, the WNBA icon stated that ‘black athletes’ have significant contributions to building the league altogether. “A lot of those players in the league that have been really good have been Black players. This league has kind of been built on them,” said Clark.
